    There is nothing particularly wrong with Beaujolais, but there's nothing special about it, either. Just okay.

    But seriously, I take it you are referring indirectly to Thunderbird wine. Bad stuff, worse than Beaujolais, but there's nothing special about Beaujolais either.

    I've never had a cup of coffee in my life. My daughter says I should drink 8 cups per day. I couldn't drink 8 thimbles of coffee. Per week.

    You poor thing, You must have had coffee poorly made. Coffee well made is ambrosia of the gods

    8 cups per day is a poisonous dose, though.

    It's an OK quaffing wine IMO.
    You can't lay it down...it doesn't have enough body so it doesn't develop any depth.
    The Brits used to go mad for it, getting groups of people together and having a race who could get back with the first bottles. It was something middle/upper middle classes did and it was also a great marketing tool for the wine merchants.
    I prefer to buy local French wines, have my favourites and also like a certain Rioja from Spain.
    When I lived in the UK I preferred a Chilean Shiraz but I can't get it easily here in France. That's OK...there are plenty more grapes in the press!

    I did force down about three sips in Guatemala on a tour of a plantation a few years ago. No fresher coffee was ever made. It didn't kill me, but I was glad to get a nice cold Coca-Cola later to wash down the residue. Cokes are better in Latin America -- cane sugar.

    Rioja red wine has been a favorite of mine for many years! Those old vines in Spain were planted before the terrible phylloxera "wine blight" catastrophe that occurred in France back in the 1850's -- and although the vineyards in France had to be totally replanted, the Spanish vineyards were untouched! :woot:

    Still, it's hard to find any red wine that is superior to those produced in the Côte d'Or....
