I love being Hispanic. I can't imagine being anything other than hispanic! I love being around other Hispanics because they speak my language and understand me better. Well, I guess I generally feel uncomfortable around people who are not Hispanic or don't at least understand Hispanic culture. I'm not saying I don't have friends who are not hispanic, but I guess I just prefer being around my people. I just want to let everyone know that Hispanic people are awesome and deserve a lot of respect for all the things they do for this country.

Now, replace the word Hispanic with white. (I don't know why my phone keeps trying to capitalize hispanic, lol).

The point of this is to be a humorous way of showing that political correctness has a huge double standard.

Yeah, it's still racist. Bigotry has never been exculsivly white.

Certain things said by certain people are generally better tolerated than when someone of another category says the same thing. This can apply to any categorical variable involving groups of people.

I wasn't intending for the racist question to be answered because it is rhetorical and was more of an advertising tool than anything else.

Essentially, I don't want the double standard for tolerance or intolerance point to get overshadowed here. I actually saw something posted on a certain social networking site similar to this. No one wrote anything disparaging to the individual regarding his racism. I imagined the same thing being said by white person and slightly exaggerated the wording.

That's just it. It shouldn't be like that. We should be more open to these things.

it's only a problem if you replace hispanic with white, because then you have white privilege. *rollseyes*

Both instances, hispanic and white, are racist. Not that there's a law against that, or anything. But I don't think there's a double standard.

Not racist at all. It makes you healthy, normal, and (most importantly) honest. Three things you're not allowed to be in PC society anymore without inviting the wrath, condescension, and judgment of the diversity-mongers.

This is a strange subject, though. Some people think not talking about race at all and instituting unofficial social policies will solve everything as we all play 'hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil'. Others tend to lean on the opposite side and think it is okay to be blatantly racist. They then proceed to complain when confronted.

    I think we're all stupid.

My position, and all those stem from the same idea, that we shouldn't discuss race. It doesn't serve any real benefit to alienate groups like that.

I think nationalism is just as bad. what are the key differences between racism and nationalism?

is being jewish a religion, a race, or a state? what criteria is used to determine who is allowed to get in and out of israel and/or gaza?

We cannot discuss culture without discussing race. I feel like silence sets up a bridge.

For example, I don't know what it's like being black or growing up in America being black. It appears that it should be appropriate for me to ask a black individual this question or to ask a woman what it's like to be a woman (their subjective perspectives). Current social rules stop people from asking these questions. No one can empathize with anyone else from different cultures without asking these questions. We alienate people by keeping up this invisible pc bridge.

For some reason, many people view a question like that as racist, even though it is just curiosity. Am i supposed to innately understand all people and where from they came?

The double standard you allude to is a back handed acknowledgement of white superiority, or the impression thereof. Follow me on this. The stronger, the superior, is expected to give concessions to the weaker and inferior. A wife can punch her husband in the arm, but if he does that to her, it's abuse. The very fact that whites are expected to field outright racist comments, and are expected to be apologetic about past race relations is evidence that people think whites to be superior and therefore obligated to give concessions that inferior races don't have to give. Whites are expected to laugh at Chris Rock's assinine comedy skits even though a white man saying those things would be hounded out of society. I'm not saying that whites are superior, but those who expect whites to "be the bigger man" really think that whites are the bigger man. The racism coming from minority races is a digression that whites are better, higher, and in a position to take abuse while giving none back.

So my question to racist black people is simple. Why do you think yourself inferior to the white race?

Culture isn't about just one person, it's as a group. You can talk about sub cultures, but they're still part of that culture. For instance, if we go along qith the Black culture. Certain things will be in there, like for instance rap. But when we get into it, we see differnces between differnt groups. Like you said, it will be differnt for men and women, even though they're part of the same culture.

I was quick to judge before. Words itself don't matter. It's the motivation behind the words that make it what it is.

This is interesting. I follow you, but I'm not buying it at the individual level. I would buy it more at the institutional level. People react based on how they are treated, and that is a fact.

If minorities are treated as second class citizens and whites are treated as first class citizens in any way, however minute, then the general population will react in some way.

There's nothing wrong with being racist; in fact it's totally normal. Most people lie to you and to themselves because pretty much every human being prefers the company of people like themselves. People need to stop lying about it.

I lost my virginity to a Mexican girl, felt like sharing that for some reason...

Anyhow. All you (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)s, wetbacks, *****, wops, greasers, *****s, nips and so forth need to realize that there is only one color that matters in America these days.

    GREEN.

Why do you think rich black guys get treated so well? I could care less who you feel comfortable with. Mexicans like to be around with other Mexicans. They can relate better. It's a very simple social norm. We all listen to different music, watch different TV shows and find different comedians funnier than such. It's nothing to be ashamed about. Hell, I like Dave Chappelle but don't think I'm gonna be able to be anything other than socially ackward in a room full of black people.

Of course, inside we're all just a little bit racist. But when you go out, and behave on these instincts without meeting people, then there's the problem.

Not really. Throw a black kid in a room full of white people. He will be uncomfortable. Throw him back to his family and friends and watch him loosen up. It's fact. People are more comfortable around people like themselves. Has little to do with race or ethnicity as you could have some little Irish (*)(*)(*)(*) adopted by a Black family. Chances are he would feel more comfortable around blacks.

Sadly, some people don't get that. They just want to scream accept everyone. When in reality, it's just inherited tribal tendencies in humans that lead to this. Doesn't mean we have to love or hate eachother either way. Just accept that people of different cultures are different.

The only bad people are Middle Eastern Muslims anyhow.

I agree. I just believe people ought to be able to keep company with whomever they choose, and not be pressured into feeling bad if they simply prefer similar people. It's not a matter of one being better than the other, just who do you connect with.

The word racist being thrown about so casually has me no longer giving a crap what anyone thinks. Call me a racist, like I give a (*)(*)(*)(*). The funny part is the hard leftist that I know well, like the stupid hippies across the street. Not once, in all the years I have known them, have I ever seen a person of another race on their property. Hypocrites with a stupid DIVERSITY bumper sticker (on their SUV, BW), but they only hang out with whites, preferably jews, which they happen to be.

Being unfcomfortable isn't the same, as rejecting someone.
