Senator Mitch McConnell (Rep, Kentucky) was on BBC News this morning saying "Let's take America back".

Back where, Mitch? The 19th century?

Great opening post, full of info., debate, and great elaboration... links and all.

Anyway... seems the people have spoken. Even some on the left have said they need to write an obituary for their party.

People are so done with the obstruction and lies.... and we have seen the "Obama Effect" in action.
Even his own party has distanced themselves from him

McConnell... and apparently most of the country... want America back on track.

I know it hurts.... just take it in small doses.

Yeah! Let`s take America back! Back to the time when a black president could ruin our country only in a drug nightmare...back to the days when we could not imagine that we will pay for the Latinos welfare...

How about to the economic growth, full employment, growing incomes and lower deficits as when Republicans controlled government?

Socialism does work, for a few people, everybody else gets pooped on.

It's also very adequate for destroying a country from the inside out.

Which is why it makes sense that someone with his name, is an Obama supporter.

The American people will only be served when we take it back from the oligarchs, which old Mitch helped to create. This is just more empty rhetoric from the republicans who were the drivers of returning this nation to the oligarchs.

The only place the repubs will take America is down the tubes. Same with the treasonous democrats who have deserted those americans that at one time they represented. I just wish we would hurry up and implode so we could get back on a sane track, and one that actually serves the American people instead of a few rich elites. The repubs will implode us faster, so perhaps we should all vote for them, and get this over with.

It's like ice cream. Taken in small doses it can make life a little more pleasant, but if you try and survive on it alone ... well that just ain't healthy.

The American people are too stupid to recognize what the problem really is. Thanks to politicians who represent the oligarchs and MSM who is its propaganda outlet.

You cannot fix our problems by relying upon dems or repubs. They destroyed the republic and gave us the oligarchy. Or problems come from the fact that we are an oligarchy. And the best interests of the people are no longer being paid attention to.

It's a lot easier to destroy than build. If you tear down the things that are working, there's no guarantee someone will give you things that work better.

With a name like yours it's fitting you'd make such a comment. He is referring to Obama's failure of a Presidency and the consequences of it.

Were things working. Is that why the Republicans answer to any problem within a program is to kill the program instead of fixing it?

Depends on the program. But I see your point, if the program isn't working at all it might be better to remove it.

True. In some cases that may be true, but in most it simply takes some effort, something the Repubs have shown they are unwilling to do. Will we see some of the Republican ideals put into action in the next 24 months, will they be repairing broken programs or will they simply try cutting funding to programs while giving more tax cuts to the rich?

It's the track of the US Constitution, Bill of Rights, standing against spending 2 years on a huge law that most people still don't want, and against all the ridiculous taxation inside of it. It's the track of self-dependence and common sense and not the track of writing of the countries problems to "racism" and "homophobia" or throwing huge money at fake energy companies who later fail and calling it "successful".

And it's no surprise someone on the left wouldn't know this.

What programs do you think Congress will cut? Tax cuts for the rich, about 10M Families in the US have a net worth of 1M$ or more and are now paying most of the Income Taxes, the bottom 50% paying nothing. What current programs do you think are broken? Better yet, does the 18T$ Debt (Est. 20T$ by 2016) allow for continuing programs that are already exist? Something must be done!!!

What do I want them to cut or what will they cut? I think that they will try and cut taxes for the rich, cut funding to the EPA, cut funds for ACA and cut Education funds, all things the Repubs hate the most, I am sure there are more but those are their favorites. I believe they will try and get the pipeline approved and fail, once America knows it will not even be for American energy needs and simply for Canadians to sell their oil abroad they will no longer support it. FYI; that 50% is a dishonest number, you do know why Romney got butchered for it, don't you, go do some reading. Most of the programs need reform, in fact I cannot think of one that does not some form of reform. The debt can be dealt with but not by giving the rich tax cuts they do not need or by continuing to send Billions to Israel and other Nations, you do not cut funding to programs for Americans will throwing money away on other Nations especially since few if any are even our friends.

Strange since he only mimicked the same saying from the right and the Cons said YES!. Do not complain when the left uses the same tool that the right used, some one might consider that to be hypocritical on your part.

McConnell is about at that age where people start forgetting the past and remembering the future. It's almost Reagan-esque.
