I admire your ability to talk all around the topic on everything except the issue: You claim I made some specific quotes, and I want proof that I made them since I didn't actually do that. Are you going to continue to fart around filibustering or are you going to bring the quotes?

Would you know at least on what page you did that particular "first thing?" Because I've gone through the first 2 pages, and haven't seen it, yet. Here are all your posts, to that point, except one longer one, which I left out because it was about guns.

I've already responded. Go back and reply to that post if you want. In the meantime, all you are doing is using it as an excuse to filibuster yourself.

The [Republican] Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday [4/21/2020] reaffirmed its support for the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusion that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election with the goal of putting Donald Trump in the Oval Office. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/...rms-russia-aimed-to-help-trump-in-2016-198171

Soon after his dinner with a white nationalist and an antisemite, the lone Republican candidate for the Presidency in 2024 called for the termination of the U.S. Constitution.

Trump again demanded that the 2020 election be overturned or rerun, for the first time explicitly calling to set aside the supreme law of the land.

“A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” he wrote in a post on Saturday on his social network, Truth Social.

Jesse Wegman writes for the Times, "There is no question that Donald Trump is ineligible under the 14th Amendment, Section 3. Given the amendment’s broad language, under which the disqualification extends not only to those who have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” but also to those who have “given aid or comfort” to those who have done so, the case against Mr. Trump is particularly clear."

"A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of the Constitution,” Donald Trump on Saturday.

“The Fake News is actually trying to convince the American People that I said I wanted to ‘terminate’ the Constitution. This is simply more DISINFORMATION & LIES, just like RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, and all of their other HOAXES & SCAMS,” Trump wrote on Monday.

There is definitely something wrong with the former President. He is hoping the educationally-challenged, uninformed rural voter that makes up the Republican base will believe him.

Obviously, the forum's Republicans do not want to talk about this.

He was appointed. He gave it a go. He gave Trump's team every chance. They failed to bring anything meaningful to the table.

The big point, is really Why he did that, and the repercussions from it: Trump is trying to NORMALIZE this sort of talk, in advance of the 2024 election-- so it won't be as stunning to those he calls upon, to sweep him into power, even after he loses, in the vote. And the fact that it is only Democrats who are condemning this, does normalize it, in the ears of all those Republicans, who don't trust Democrats.

Yes, Wist, this is most definitely writing on the wall-- but it's you who fails to see it, because you're looking at the wrong wall.

He took the appointment. He didn't side with Trump's folks on, well, anything. And he's no longer on the case.

I didn't remember him dropping out.

    ...
In 1992, Perot announced his intention to run for president and advocated a balanced budget, an end to the outsourcing of jobs, and the enactment of electronic direct democracy. A June 1992 Gallup poll showed Perot leading a three-way race against President Bush and presumptive Democratic nominee Bill Clinton. Perot briefly withdrew from the race in July, but re-entered the race in early October after he qualified for all 50 state ballots.

He should have recused himself because he didn't side with Trump? Funny theory. Anyway, it no longer matters. None of Trump's arguments won and he's been removed anyway.

I thought some are all for protecting our Democracy. Isn't that what some have been harping about?

Many have read the quote and read it for context. Trump did not say what the O/P thread title says he did.

Not going to explain to anyone what they should be able to read and understand for themselves.

Ever since the "Red Wave" failed to materialize you don't hear them talking about it anymore. Oddly enough the Republicans won the majority in the House. 83% of those that Trump endorsed won their elections. Isn't Democracy still in jeopardy despite no Red Wave?

The context is he's talking about terminating articles of the Constitution to circumvent the election. That's the context.

Trump has been harping against democracy. As have his followers. He harped against democracy in the very quote that you refuse to actually read.

Yes, as Wikipedia puts it, he "withdrew"-- dropped out; when he did that (and I was volunteering for him), he did not say that it was a temporary move. He did, of course, re-enter, but the damage was done, at that point. People were spooked by a candidate who could be so capricious, in a run for the White House. He attributed it, as I'd said, to rumors he'd heard about Republican dirty tricks, targeting his daughter's wedding.

So please explain why the base would abandon him for DeSantis. You said it wasn't as simple as him shutting his mouth. You said DeSantis policies were essentially the same. How can it be argue that DeSantis resume is better than Trump's? Trump has 4 years of what the base considers successful presidential experience. DeSantis has none. Trump has appointed 3 SC justices and countless judges. How many has DeSantis appointed? Trump went heads up against China in a trade war. What did DeSantis do? Trump started building a wall. How much has DeSantis built? Unless the base considers what Trump has done is a failure why would they vote out the incumbent? People have called Trump the best president in their lifetime and now you are saying the base is going to fire him for someone else. Republican claims we should pick the best resume for the job, are you arguing that DeSantis resume is better than Trump's? What policy has Trump enacted that made you abandon him for DeSantis?
