The constitutionality of the federal assault weapons ban was never allowed to be put in front of the scotus, so that doesn't address the AWB that Clinton signed into law, and has fortunately never been renewed.

And no, you can't just say that schools will be safer without weapons available because simply banning weapons doesn't mean that people intent on breaking the law are going to follow the law. You might think that there will be fewer mass shootings, but the constitution doesn't give the federal government any authority in this regard.

What you can do is petition your state to have an assault weapons ban, if you think that will help. I don't think it will, but you're free to try.

As I wrote earlier, this is just kneejerk reactions. Nothing you wrote is realistic.

The issue is about kids in high school. Those are the ones protesting, correct? Or do you think 5 yr olds are protesting? You can't really be trying to compare the innocence of a child who believes in santa claus to high school kids who have cognitive thinking ability. You're coming off looking desperate.

I got subjected to cursive back in the 70s. My writing was pretty much unreadable, as was that of a lot of my school mates. I changed to printing in High School, though my writing was still awful. I don't know anyone who has used cursive since school.

Funny to see the non-teaching of cursive being held up as some sort of evidence of deep problems in the school system. I guess some people will grasp any straw to prosecute an argument.

 

Anyone who thinks cursive writing should be mandated does not understand the intersection of tech and composition.

Seems it's not the teachers but the kids who want this. You don't think these kids see the footage on the news of the protesting done by high school students? You don't think these kids talk to their parents about this issue?

From what you last posted there was nothing about the teachers or administrators pushing kids to protest.
