The allegation was Hitler used education to brainwash youth and you seemed to discount that. The fact that young teens took up arms to defend Hitler is good evidence the brainwashing worked.

We could go on for months on what is missing from the list. Take your example. One would think - in a nation where respect for individual liberty is the main principle on which that nation was founded - one would study various forms of Gov't and ideologies that do not respect individual liberty ?

A test question could be (the full test actually) - Describe 3 "dangerous ideologies" that have led to totalitarianism and/or atrocities and give examples of regimes that used these ideologies.

Hitler used a warped form of Eugenics ideology to justify extermination of Jews and other "unfit" humans. He also used fear of an external threat to take away individual liberty.

Stalin used Utilitarianism " Law justified on the basis of what will increase happiness for the collective" combined with fear of an external threat.

Then you have the wide variety of religious justification - done on the basis of "God says so" - based on some human interpretation of some holy book that purports to speak for God as justification for law. Divine Right - Pontifex Maximus and so on.

One could rattle off 10 regimes - including ones that exist today such as Saudi Arabia and most other Muslim nations.
