Yes I would, I have risked my life and seen others die to preserve it. Stop with the infantile hypocrisy or.... actually I'll never put you on ignore, when you run away like that it is admitting the other person is correct, you have just conceded you are wrong and all those right wingers have won. So I'm your huckleberry.

America cannot retreat into isolationism, the rest of the world will not simply leave it alone.

Of course it is, what else is it you think they do? You don't actually believe all the anti-American baloney do you?

You call the Taliban banning music, oppressing women and slitting the throat of anyone who hasn't a beard civilization?

America is fully capable of handling her global responsibilities and domestic responsibilities at the same time. We're adults... we can chew gum and walk at the same time. And BOTH are very important. There was no need to intervene anywhere on 9/10... but there sure was on 9/12. And education does need a rebuild after being devastated by "Common Core" and "Critical Race Theory". School vouchers would be a good idea to allow parents to manage the education of their kids. There is lots to do.

At the same time we must be ever vigilant about external hostile forces. The debacle in Afghanistan has reinvigorated the terrorist threat from ISIS to Hamas to the Taliban and all the rest. And now they are well armed too. Iran's nuke program progresses and their aggressiveness will continue to grow due to our defeat in Afghanistan. Then, of course, there are our traditional Russian and Chinese enemies, both emboldened by our defeat.

So there is a lot to do to stay safe, secure and prosperous. Let us not rob Peter to pay Paul, but plan effectively, work as a team and get it all done.

One more comment. .. about Afghan "civilization". There is arguably very little civilization in the Arab world. I helped train the Iraqi Army some time ago. The recruits were mostly illiterate. Some got their first ride in a vehicle on the way to KMTB (Kir Kush Military Training Base). They were neither patriotic nor motivated. Right after graduation of the First Battalion in October 2003, they rioted when they found out they might not be stationed in their home towns. I discussed all this with my I-T (Interpreter-Translator). He was a great young guy, a recent graduate of Baghdad University, whose fiance had been kidnapped by Sadaam's sons Uday and Qusay, never to be heard from again. When I asked what the matter was, he explained this way: "You Americans have President Bush, John Wayne and Astronauts. Our last hero died 3,000 years ago. We don't understand how to be a country."

It must be pretty challenging to be "civilized" ......when so many are uneducated , have no sense of nation and likely function on a basic survival basis.

They live in fear ............on a constant basis. Their "leadership " is backward thinking and based on some outdated law that is bent controlling the peple. , thwarting any educational advancement ........as that would make the population more educated and therefore a threat to the outdated ideologies How can they progress to what we consider "civilization???

The US had 20 years to change their direction while it occupied that nation..........so how come things went south for them again?? They have been on survival mode for decades.........surviving invasions from the brits, the Russians and most recently the US.................They have had not time or chance to become"civilized". Let alone educated .....or establish the kinds of rights we are used to.

Think of Napoleon's retreat from Russia and then you can fathom the diff.

I should have said muslim. Its a typical muslim nation. Little or no nationalism... no patriotism. Their focus is on getting to Paradise. In THIS life its family and immediate community ("tribe"). Its all about Islam, not race. Heck, the Kurds are Caucausians by race, but its the same social structure.

Hardly, you are paid by the wage rate predetermined by the Price Index Concepts and Measurement of Chicago or the amount of illegal labor priced at subcontractor rates submitted by illegals working in the industry that are allowed to operate in the US to drive down labor prices by the capitalist at the expense of the US govt.

That shows how peple can be programmed by their beliefs. It is their culture too. Not sure judging them is all that helpful

Their priorities are different. don't think it makes sense to compare the kind of culture to one of a western nation.

That is because of tribalism. Those tribal members have managed to outlive several invaders from great empires. The Muslim's still function upon the same system the Papacy functions where the spiritual leader is the supreme political leader of the nation.

Not in my experience. When I left the Army I had two big defense corporations bidding on me. I was on the phone all afternoon with both of them. Finally one said they could go no further because it would be more than my contemporaries who had been there for years were earning. So I ended up with highest bidder at a salary that was about $25,000 more than the opening bid just a couple of hours earlier. Its all about one's WORTH. I had a West Point engineering degree, an MBA and years of Army experience. I knew the players from Bragg to Benning and Orlando to the Pentagon. I knew the technology of their products, their customer, how to walk requirements from the user to funding in Congress... the whole deal.
I was valuable and they were willing to pay for it.
I never even heard of your Chicago Doohickey.

RADICAL MUSLIMS (NOT ALL muslims) don't care about this life at all. As my I-T told me in Iraq, the radical muslims view this life as nothing more than an entranceway or as he said a "foyer" on the way to PARADISE. And killing infidels (non-believers, i.e.... US) is the key to gaining entrance. That's how they can strap bombs on their kids. They aren't killing them... they are sending them to PARADISE. And that's why Iran is so scary. They have no qualms about using nukes. hey don't care if we level them in return... they will be in PARADISE.

"Dogface"? When I left the Army, I worked for Boeing... in their helicopter facility in Ridley Park by Philadelphia airport. I saw no one in uniform there, although the folks in the logistics area all seemed to be ex-Marines (Boeing makes the Ch-46 and CH-47).

How sad. Life is good. I've lived everywhere and done so much... from front seating an Apache to jumping from airplanes to being in a few firefights to Commanding troops in Europe and in the USA, to helping conceive and develop all sorts of high tech stuff to raising a son that graduated from Cornell and Fordham Law to marrying a SUPERWIFE that has seen Les Miserable with me in London, explored Norway and Paris with me... and now I'm retired to a great new home in Texas with a jacuzzi, walk-in tub, gardens and cats. Life is pretty wonderful if you work at it.

Where? I worked with Raytheon briefly on the Patriot Missile in Woburn, Massachusetts. TOW is still hanging in there in active service.
