We invaded to get Osama bin Laden who slaughtered thousands of Americans on 9/11. A VERY GOOD reason to invade.
It was NOT a "desperate situation". We had 2500 troops in Afghanistan... not many as wars go... and hadn't had a casualty in well over a year... nothing "desperate" about it.
You must have raised a real snowflake of a child if they can't make up their own minds about volunteering for the military or not. Its a voluntary force. My kids are adults. They run their lives on their own. I didn't raise them to need mommy or daddy's approval in their life decisions.

Hitler transported hapless Jews on trains to Auschwitz, Dachau, et al. Then he intentionally killed them, making sure he missed no one. We bombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima and the civilians just happened to be there. That's the way it was before "precision bombing". We never trucked or bussed anyone into Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

And the willingness to maintain the status-quo of Upper-income Taxation that is filling their pockets with billions upon billions of dollars. Which should be more highly taxed and shunted into the Federal-budget to enhance our existence.

Especially in terms of educational accomplishment, where it is needed far, far more than in the DoD ... !

*Increase upper-income taxation to obtain more fairness.
*Construct a National Healthcare System as has been done in the European Union, which is why they live 4 years longer than Americans!
*Make the obtaining of a Post-secondary Degree very low-cost so that the poorest of Americans can educate themselves out of poverty!
