I can dig it. I'm a Bernie fan myself, and the same sort of things could perhaps have been said about him. I like to think he'd have been enough of a 'bully' to resist the ideologues ... at least the SJW globalist elites.

I can also dig the family horror. I have some relatives who exclaimed "OH NO!" when I mentioned that I'm interested in listening to both sides. I didn't say "I love Trump" mind, just mentioned employing critical faculties for a better grasp on the big picture. It freaked them right out. It was as though I'd said "I'm going to start eating small babies and kittens". I regard these good and loved folk, now, as 'religious' fundamentalists. They've bought the dogma, and shut down brains.

 

What's funny is that in Canada, they're very big on preferred pronouns .. even to the point of enforcing use of same via law. So all those Justinian SJWs should ethically, as well as legally, honour Donny's preferred pronoun .. "Prez".

From what I am able to tell, in researching this group, it seems to have been founded as a propaganda body.

Full time membership is accorded to about 90 people globally from 55 countries. Streep perhaps spoke as their spokes person but I think she simply shot off her face due to an election that she believes dumb people tossed to Trump.

We have a lot of narcissists in hollywood.

But those such as her and George Clooney do not live with the normal world. They earn so much money, they do not perhaps remember the way ordinary people live.

In aside ... we know actors are people who didn't get enough attention as kids, or got the wrong kind of attention. It takes considerable dysfunction and a very fragile ego to want or need that kind of public approval .. it's way outside normal 'healthy' requirements. That's why anything most of them say or think should be ignored as the bleatings of misfits. It's nice that there's a job for them, though. Hollywood and TV land are the sheltered workshops for the emotionally disabled.

I take it this is in some part fueled by Meryl Streep's speech at the Globes. Who is Meryl Streep to me that I should care what she says? Everybody has a political opinion but when you're giving it at the Globes it's not like you can challenge her on it. Personally I have to wonder how the nominee's felt with her using their night to shine to express her personal opinions via an award show; not the place for it IMHO.
