Miracle on Ice team defends decision to appear at Trump rally

I didn't see any 'regret' for going up there, and as the statement reads, they (he) didn't realize it would piss so many people off by wearing the hat.

My statement was directed at the right person, in the right thread. My opinion on that is supported by your response.

The simple truth is that anything the liberals approve of, the media applauds or remains silent. Any black, woman, gay, or any other PC protected minority has free range to say they hate republicans, whites, men, etc. But say anything that the liberals don't approve of and the media is out to destroy you.

Well, as I pointed out, 4 of the members on stage refused to wear the hat, thus mitigating the damage done.

But those that did, and I posted the full list earlier, remain disgraced by doing so during a team appearance, even if not pre-planned.

Bernie is certainly a different way to go, but any direction from Trump works for me..

 

They did not. They have the sane rights we are do to proclaim and display their political beliefs. Damn shame people think they don’t.

 

Nobody is saying they don't have the right.... but those 'sane' rights do not prevent completely expected blowback while doing so claiming to represent a team that once represented the entire country... as Eruzione realized after the fact by reading his twitter responses...

The many women of the World Cup team that said they wouldn't go to the WH under Trump did so as individuals... I never saw an official statement from the full team or organization.

I think if you wear the flag in competition for the nation you honor the nation by visiting the capital, not the POTUS.

 

A visit to the capitol is enhanced by the presence of the President.

 

I have a friend who met President Trump recently and even though he isn't dazzled by 'position' he was absolutely honored to do so and felt a swelling of patriotism and pride. Not for meeting Trump himself but for the feeling of great pride he felt in being recognised for representing his country and his fellow Americans.

As a team player or as an individual this should not be disparaged due to partisan political ideals.
