It always amazes me when people do not understand their own government....

Single payer is not government run healthcare. Please, PLEASE stop trying to discuss things you know nothing about. It’s painful.

...and taxed and regulated by government, therefore government run.

The government taxes and regulates single payer healthcare system, therefore it is government run.

Wrong. Medicare pays 80% and the supplemental plan pays most of what is left over.

Are we pretending Medicaid doesn't already exist?

Why aren't you reading before writing? The current insurance companies aren't competing with free. They are competing with more expensive.

Again, by definition, it is not.

This is laughably false, and you are perfectly aware of that.

Most PPO's have both copays and deductibles.

That's how every other system works. In Canada medicare for all covers about 70% of medical costs. There is a robust private insurance industry, both individual and employee plans that cover those and such things as private rooms, glasses, dentists, drugs etc..

I find it amazing that there is such a lack of clarity over what the bumperstickers mean. Its not rocket science, its pretty straightforward structure.

The challenge for the US is in managing the market transition when so many people are so misinformed.

I have deductibles, but no copays.

Not by the actual definition of single payer, no. Medicare is single payer. It does not control healthcare. The VA is government run healthcare, as in the government controls the paying and they control the healthcare.

Now that you know the difference, you can stop being wrong.

If Medicare was so great, then there wouldn't be a need for individuals to purchase supplemental plans.

Medicare pays 80%. If you buy outside insurance, you pay anyway. Medicare is excellent. You think you get it for free?

Providers are still all private enterprise (outside of VA).

There is sure to be private insurance to cover what the single payer system doesn't cover.

All under the control, via taxes and regulations, of the big fat bloated Federal government. Hence, government run.

Of course it's not free. I'm not the one calling for free Medicare for all. It's the left-wingers that are calling for free this and free that.

No, Medicare is single payer. Words mean things. Single payer, by definition is not government run healthcare. I don’t understand why you intentionally insist on being wrong. You’ve been corrected several times, by several different people.
