The law as written is not really an issue. How people abuse it, if it was abused (I think it was), is the issue. It should not be a racially divisive issue but it was turned into one.

They did not sell them BECAUSE they were black. that cannot be said for the slave trade in the US.

I mean really to blame White Americans for something their ancestors may or may not have done is stupid. Furthermore to blame any slave owner from 200-400-800-10,000 years ago for anything is also wrong. It is the human race that is the issue and we have evolved in the free world (some of us). Look at where slave trade is today and you will see where it has always been.

Oh and I am not white. The white man pushed my people out of their country and for this I thank them. Yeah there is a little resentment but I also have white in me so I have some self hate.

In my opinion part of it boils down to some people want to blame others for their issues that they have brought upon themselves. Many stand up for what is right but they are harassed and called uncle toms and disowned.
