    My own thoughts?

    This is a destructive idea.

For one, people have money when they're older, so it is OK to borrow from Social Security now? The reason people have money when they're old is because of savings while young. Better to save $10 when 20 to spend when 70, than $100 when 60 to spend when 70. It is called interest. He also writes that both parents need to work in today's economy: one cannot simply take a year off. Appears he hasn't heard some 14 million US households are single parent. What this will end up being is a subsidy paid for by men to women that can then celebrate state how much they do not need men.

This idea would further socially disenfranchise men with their own earnings. I hope it fails.

So they have six kids and when they reach retirement they have only half their SS left? What about their employer
"Hey boss the wife just had another kid like last year so I'm off for another six months and I expect my job waiting when I come back"

The biggest problem I see is this: this bill is targeting people who have failed to plan and save adequately/responsibly to start a family, but then it is expecting them to be responsible with "pulling forward from their future Social Security benefits". If they weren't financially responsible when it came to planning/starting a family, why would we expect they'll make financially responsible choices about "pulling forward from their future Social Security benefits"?

However, the one potentially HUGE benefit is "No new taxes. No new mandates. No new regulations. Completely optional." I guess we can let them use their "future Social Security benefits" and at least it won't impact the rest of us. This is sort of a "freebie" for the irresponsible/entitled crowd who loves that type of thing, but it isn't funded by the rest of us. For that, thank you Rubio for thinking outside of the box.

Social security needs to be reformed so it is an actually account instead of a pool of money congress can steal from. That way when it is needed the soon to be parents could borrow from their social security account with an extremely low interest rate.

It reminds me of those commercials urging Vets to take out 100% of their equity in their homes so they can spend the money, those people should be shot.

We are facing a CRISIS of a future shrinking workforce, due to well below replacement birth rates not just in the USA but in the vast majority of industrialized economies around the world. There will be less number of schools and teaching jobs and colleges and universities needed with less kids to attend them.Since we live in a consumer driven economy, a shrinking population will be devastating to it.We need immigrants far more than they need us.The last thing we need is anything prematurely taking funds out of Social Security which faces a future of shrinking number of employees contributing into it.

You could make a case for needing WELL VETTED and MERIT BASED legal immigrants perhaps, but we don't need more people just for the sake of having more people.

Our birth rate as with most so called western countries is far below replacement rate, more dying than being born. With the number of Social Security recipients growing and less people entering the workforce to pay into it,the future does not look to promising.

Radically change the way we train the young for their professional lives. End brick and mortar schooling after the 6th grade and get these kids into their 1st apartments. Improve mass transportation so they can get to work/shopping. Put them on a path to certs and licenses. Get their lives started 10-15 years earlier. That will provide a huge boost to the demographic pyramid dynamic.
