I appreciate that feedback, but to my knowledge hero Rosa Parks (who was a better person than I'll ever be) was not disrespecting the flag/America, but rather going DIRECTLY against a ridiculous rule - blacks had to sit at the back of the bus. If, say, the NFL had a rule that blacks couldn't kneel during anthems, but white people could, then THAT would be similar, but your example is not particularly similar.

these comparisons are absurd, i respect people who protested women's rights to vote, segregation, slavery etc.. but these were real examples of oppression. We have moved on from all of this and too many people still live in the past. For god's sakes, we, as a white majority nation, put a black person in the office of the presidency!

Morgan Freeman said it best - racism is NOT the cause of inequality anymore, it's the excuse for 'not getting there'. I wish someone like Morgan Freeman ran for president, young black men need a positive leader in this country because today's leaders set a bad example. Today's leaders make young blacks believe cops are bad, whites are in their way and this creates a wall for success, negativity like this is destructive and giving people an excuse for failure is a problem. They need a positive minded leader that instills in them that whites are no longer in the way, it's about personal responsibility, going after what you want and being a good citizen with a positive outlook. The sky is the limit.

Let me guess? Another old, 'white', Trumpbot, male, dinosaur who knows next to nothing about African-Americans but - for some bizarre reason - thinks he knows EVERYTHING about the life of an African American.

Only a person of staggering arrogance and ignorance would claim to know ALL ABOUT things he has ZERO first hand knowledge/experience of.

But if you are SO sure of all of this...why don't you show how brave you are and go and give this sermon at your nearest NAACP meeting. And after you are done there - why not go to a maternity ward and tell women what it really feels like to give birth.
Big talk bragging and insulting others you know nothing of while sitting behind a computer screen.

I am neither Dem nor Rep but Trump is a tired, fat, old, stupid turd of a man with all the honor of vulture.

America is about freedom, not conformity. The day the reverse is true, I want nothing more to do with her.

wrong, latino immigrant who is rather young and actually good looking with a good middle class job. I can see why you would want to label me as an ugly white old racist but that's okay, i'm used to debating people who ignore facts and lack critical thinking skills.

But racism is STILL a problem - not so big of a problem that we'd automatically not elect a very charismatic black guy as president, no, but still a problem.

LOL...where the hell did I mention your looks? What the hell would appearances have to do with anything?

Fine, so you are a 'Latino immigrant' who is 'rather young' (whatever the hell that means). You are still appear to be everything else I said. Trumpbots are mostly old, male and 'white'...but not all. You still have no idea whatsoever what it is like to be an African American first hand. ZERO.

Your OP was filled with more bile and anger than facts.

My guess is you BIG TIME resent that these players make so much more then you do.

Finally...it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS what anyone else does during the national anthem (assuming it is legal). NONE.
And people that try and take away other people's right to freedom of speech and expression make me sick.

I'd add to that: "stick around to be a great everyday role model to your children!"

You went down smoking, IN FLAMES, crashed already, should quit while you are behind and learn something about making assumptions, but you won't. That's why you and yours are losing, will continue to lose and lose and lose. Good.

may i present to all of you exhibit A above. This is an example of how those who are misinformed, brainwashed debate when they can't handle hard facts - character assassination. When presented with hard truths and facts, the response is - you are an old, white racist dinosaur who just hates that NFL players make so much $$. So sad...

No, I said I guess you are.... I did not say you are. Apparently, my guess about your heritage, age were wrong. But that changes nothing about what you said.

And you did not answer my question. Where did I mention anything about your looks?

And my 'character assassination of you' is only a tiny fraction of the hate and bile you spewed forth against people you have never even met. You condemned tens of millions of people you don't even know. At least I knocked your actual words. You condemned many people who have not even said anything.

I do not respect people who condemn others when they have - for the most part - done nothing wrong and whom they do not even know.

    LOL

One - I said it was a guess. And his 'race' and age changes NOTHING about what I said about his sermon.

Two - where exactly did I mention his looks?

Three - who exactly are 'you and yours'? (this should be good).

Trump took the kneeling personally now that he is President.

Prior to that I'm sure he wouldn't have given it a second thought.

After Trump railed on the players they noticed how little he had to say about Charlottesville yet he could talk about them.

Now they really banded together against racist Trump.

Trump caused this thing to blow out of proportion.

While focusing on the NFL Trump dropped the ball on Puerto Rico.

This is, bar none, the worst post I've read in a long time.

The lack of empathy expressed here combined with a litany of derogatory stereotypes should make you pause and think about whatever blessings you received to be born into whatever situation you were born into. You say all these things while cowering behind the flag claiming unassailable patriotism. It's disgusting. It makes me wonder if you've ever considered where these cycles start and how hard they are to break down. Have you ever worked at an inner-city elementary school? Ever visited one? The only conclusion possible to draw from the bald-faced ignorance and entrenched bias expressed in your post is that you've never considered -at all- the hurdles these people face trying to pull themselves out of the institutional poverty and infrastructure that undergirds massive parts of this country. You think that poverty can be simply overcome by working hard, you imply that entrenched poverty can be overcome by respecting cops, you imply that the bridge to the middle class is nothing but a job... This problem is so much more complex than you seem to understand. Your derogation of black people is seriously shocking. I wonder if you'll think about this at all. I wonder if you'll go look at something as simple as elementary school funding in inner cities, income, and graduation rates, and the associated police presence and treatment? Are you capable of seeing how difficult a problem it is to literally change the reality of a geographical place that was designed segregated in the middle of last century?

Your dismissal of people, their hopes, their aspirations... It's really ****ed up. You should think it through more. Read your own last sentence. It's horrid.

what i find amazing and humorous about your post is that you actually agree with me and you don't even realize it because you are letting your emotions take over. One thing i learned is that using your head always beats using your emotions when it comes to solving problems.

If you cared to carefully analyze what i posted, you would see that the key point i make is that negativity, excuse making, using cops as a scapegoat and not focusing on the real issues is the problem. The issues you speak of are actually issues that i think should be discussed and from a platform that has a big audience. Instead of blaming white people and cops, the discussion should be about what needs to be done to fix the issues you speak of. You mention the inner city schools, the hurdles people face when trying to pull themselves out of poverty. These are the issues that NFL and all these cop bashing, white people bashing activists should be focusing on. Lack of good schools in inner cities, absentee fathers, bad parenting, crime etc... are by far, the biggest issues blacks face in inner cities that are poor. Guess what and this is a fact, THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH COPS OR WHITE PEOPLE, NOTHING. Now, you can blame past generations of white people for things but all these people are dead. Today's whites ARE NOT THE PROBLEM, COPS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM.

So, whether you know it or not, i agree with you on the issues you raise and the challenges african americans face in inner cities. WHY isn't the NFL focusing on any of it? If we fixed these schools, tried to help black youth by changing the culture of bad parenting/absentee fathers and crime, african americans seek to gain so much. Instead, black activists and NFL focus on white cops, the least of an african american's problems and when i say this, it is true.

Here's the reality. It is true what you say about challenges black youth face and it's not easy to escape it but at the same time what i say is true. If you are an african american who gets an education, works hard, obeys the laws, respects cops, you can even become president, there is no higher office. The issue is how can we get more black youth in inner cities on this path and this is what we need to be focusing on as society, these issues are neglected and take a back seat to white cop bashing. This is a serious problem and we need a change in mindset or african americans will see little progress. Policing is it's own issue but it's far from the biggest challenges facing african americans in inner cities, we need to re-direct our energy on the bigger issues, issues neglected by democratic and republican politicians.

you may view my post as derogatory but it's just me saying truths that some blacks don't want to hear. Many blacks want to use cops as the scapegoat and blame whites for failures, it's counterproductive and it creates a wall which blocks success. What i want to see is an effort by all sides to start focusing on the real issues, i'm sick and tired of the race card being used at every f chance because it's more controversial, more ratings worthy and gets emotions going. As Morgan Freeman said, racism is used as an excuse not to get there. We need more leaders like Morgan Freeman that set a positive example for black youth and leaders that raise the bigger issues on the right platform, even these issues are more boring and less ratings worthy than racism.

Have you lived and grown up in an inner-city neighborhood?

I can tell you that, while the post you railed against is overly simplistic in its tone, it is essentially correct. You know, there is only some small amount of nuance one can put in their posts. Instead of jumping to the "you're a racist" reflex, maybe a more considered outlook would help to bridge our differences of opinion.

The biggest problem with ALL low/no income people is ATTITUDE. This is not easy to fix. I don't know how to change minds. I have some ideas, but getting leaders to implement them isn't likely.

Most importantly, the neighborhoods must be made safe.

The education system must teach and demand success and achievement.

Community leaders must promote success, rather than blame.

We must provide opportunities for success. We have to import businesses into the safe and success-oriented neighborhoods created by the previous steps.

My plan would take a lot of patience. We, as a society, don't have what it takes.

the right leaders are where this starts. None of what you speak of is easy and will take time but today's leaders use cops as the scapegoat and use the race card to explain everything. We need these leaders to GO... and new one to emerge, new leaders that will actually try and address crime, lack of good school systems, culture of bad parenting, crime and blaming white people. Where are these leaders? I once in a while hear some of them speak, like Morgan Freeman and Eddie murphy but they are mostly silent and the loud mouthed cop bashers are the ones getting the coverage. Racism is like sex, it sells and the MSM covers it 24/7, even though it's not even close to the biggest problem blacks face today. White people today even voted a black man into office of the presidency, time to move on from 'white people are in the way' mentality.

I own several Jerseys and have gone to one game for at least ten years.

I will never do both again, nor buy Sunday Ticket.

If it is on in a bar I may watch, but I am just disgusted by the children in the NFL
