The basic conflict of interest before that is that no federal crime exists, thus the FBI doesn't have authority to investigate anything. It's being done totally to appease the whiners who demanded it. Even the FBI says it a recital that can't change anything.

It achieves the real reason for the demand- Delay. That is the driving motivation; they don't give a hoot about Ford, and they know Kavanaugh is an exceptional nominee.
Hopefully, the real investigation will be of the people manipulating this dog and pony show.

Fallacy of false composition: "The basic conflict of interest before that is that no federal crime exists, thus the FBI doesn't have authority to investigate anything."

    What nonsense.

The FBI also and routinely functions as a VETTING agent for nominees, NOT just Criminal affairs.

    Try again though!

Obama doubled the national debt and got us out of the Great Recession. You can point out individuals who have made it in the stock market, and so can I, but it is the rich who are making the money right now and not the little guy. You are good at lecturing and are saying nothing. 50 years in business? How old are you?

And that is all it does. This investigation, if it is to be thorough, needs to investigate his social past and accuracy of his testimony.
We already know about his background, and it is impressive. What about his character, his truthfulness, etc.?

I found his demeanor disconcerting. No matter how disrespectful the dems were being, he was also being disrespectful in not answering questions directly, plus repeating his own questions without answering. You are being asked a question. It's an interview, so just answer the question. It's not that hard. Those things you expect of politicians, not judges. Even if he is completely innocent, to me the trial by itself was not a waste. It showed who he really is. I don't think he can be a fair judge. The whole thing was really cringy to watch.

Why don't you investigate that for us. The investigations are pointless. The dems have promised not to vote for him and the reps don't need the investigation to vote for him. Perhaps they make you feel better. Investigate away.

No thanks, but I appreciate your choice of me to investigate. It is a done deal for the Republicans.

It's similar to the difference between the check they do for a secret clearance and a TS in which they actually go and interview family and friends.

Vetting has already been done six times.
The call here is not for another vetting, but an investigation of a particular charge with the implication of possible criminality. For the FBI to have authority for that normally requires that a federal crime must have occurred. Even if there was support for Ford's claims, that would still not be true. Try again- to understand what you are talking about before you make yourself look foolish.

spiritguide does not know the dif between background investigations and this vetting. Since spiriguide is not the authority for determining this investigation, he can be ignored. Trump has allowed this investigation to go where it may.

I just posted a note in a new thread, which would seem to be appropriate for you:

Dr. Carol Christine Fair, an associate professor in the Security Studies Program at Georgetown, said white Republican senators, specifically Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, who defended Kavanaugh in a fiery speech, “deserve miserable deaths." Fair went on to say in her Saturday message that the living should “castrate their corpses and feed them to swine."

“Look at [this] chorus of entitled white men justifying a serial rapist’s arrogated entitlement,” she wrote. “All of them deserve miserable deaths while feminists laugh as they take their last gasps. Bonus: we castrate their corpses and feed them to swine? Yes.”

How's that for brilliant thinking? I'll bet she has an IQ that is double digit.
Since the beginning of time. people who couldn't do something or couldn't understand something called those who could stupid, using their own level of ignorance and arrogance as the benchmark of judgment. When you can't cut it, you just know that those SOB's that can must have cheated. Stole your share of the brains, perhaps?

By the way, you can't call another poster stupid. You can call Trump stupid, and we can't do anything about that. Call a member stupid, get reported... and chastised. I'll let it pass this time since it's obvious you have a TDS issue going on.

I bet democratic and centrist women are watching the GOP trying to white wash Kavanaugh and registering to vote in the November elections. Maybe the GOP think they will be voting for Republicans.

They certainly voted for Bill Clinton despite the allegations of sexual assault leveled again him during his presidency.

Next summer, Trump will get another Supreme Court nomination. No, not RBG, but Justice Thomas.

No they just take testimony and turn it over to the White House and the Congress. They do not judge it to be true or not. Which of course gets back to why are we engage in this reinvestigation? What new evidence did Ford present in her testimony?

I am not wealthy and I have invested ALL my life since I was a teenager. I am nearing retirement and will have a nice comfortable one until the Democrats announce that that is not fair because other people who did not save all their lives as I did don't have as good a retirement as I have therefore I must turn over some of my retirement savings to them.

Is that the kind of society you want to live in?

Do you believe the FBI "investigation" which is a background check is going to determine if Judge Kavanaugh sexually assaulted Prof. Ford 36 years ago? Do you believe that is its purpose?
