Well, the point is that pedophilia is not necessarily a mental disorder in any medical sense. That doesn't make it any more acceptable a thing to do; it's not meant to normalize it and make it acceptable socially or legally.

 

I'm probably going to upset people on both sides of the aisle with this, but here we go. I don't think pedophilia (man on woman or vice versa) is a mental disorder, I think it's a sexual preference because it's biologically natural - some people like MILFs, others just the opposite, ergo, the preference. Yes, I've called pedophiles perverts and demanded they be locked up, but that's because what they're doing is preying on innocent and unknowing children who could be harmed for life by what the pedophile does, such an assumption is not given to an adult. Going a little further, we can't even agree among our United States on the age of what is and isn't an adult, the world even more so. In the United States of America it is considered immoral for an adult to have sex with a minor and to back that up they made it a crime, almost certainly to punish someone who would possibly do harm to an easily pliable child who doesn't know better and I agree with that position.

But if mental doctors can even for a moment think that a biologically correct sexual preference, no matter how immoral and harmful it might be, is a mental disorder (as they have done in the past per this article) then how can they qualify non biologically correct sexual preferences as normal? But they managed to some how do that. In that regard, I see political agendas as a driving force to sway public opinion on what is and isn't moral, and what is and isn't normal, and the use of friendly mental health experts to find the reasoning to justify that notion is right here in this thread.

If someone wishes to debate me on this then please don't accuse me of defending pedophiles because I'm not. I'm describing why I think they do what they do, not justifying it.
