During a press conference, President Obama passionately spoke about fake news on the internet and cautioned against “active misinformation” which could pose a threat to democracy. Obama called on young Americans to avoid well packaged “misinformation,” according to USA Today. Earlier this week in Greece, Obama said the “unprecedented exchange of information” has created a “volatile politics” in Western countries, which leads people to begin to question their national identities.

Fake news I'd classify as any political opinion or disinformation coming from the Mainstream Media: CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, and New York Times, to name some of the worst.

There are many superior news sources that can be found on social media. Some of them like Alex Jones and Bill Still on Youtube were correctly saying that Trump would win.

People, please stop filling your mind with garbage from the Neo-Communist, globalist, Liberal-Democrat Mainstream Media.

Thank you.

The word "Neo-Con" has been thrown around now for a few years with zero understanding to a lot of people including myself.

Do you guys consider Trump a Neo-Con? Hillary?

What makes someone a Neo-Con in your opinion?

Alex Jones, at the very least, is a sociopath. I pity anyone who listens to him. He would however fit in perfectly with a Trump administration. Why hasn't he been appointed for office yet?

Did Obama criticize Hillary Clinton for getting questions in advance from CNN in the primary debates against Bernie? Or the Democrats sending paid protesters to disrupt Trump rallies? You'd think the media would look into this stuff. I know if it was Trump and 'Pubs doing it there would be an outcry.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Hilarious.

A pathologically dishonest bull(*)(*)(*)(*) artist who has been incessantly lying to the American public for the past 8 years - winning the 2013 Politifact Liar of the Year Award in the process - is pretending he cares about disinformation.

I used to think Alex Jones was a little goofy, but I have to say he's been right about a lot of stuff. Now I visit infowars often, and Alex Jones has grown on me. He gets emotional sometimes, but he's not a plastic news anchor, he's a guy that's passionate about informing people. I like that quality about him. He's not a sociopath.

The Neo-conservative movement was spearheared by Bristol and Kagan. Particularly, their New American Century(highlighted by Holowitz, Cheney and among others.) It is their belief that US military dominance will secure this new century, and through that dominance the stability could be created through the Middle East.

In spite of the last 20+ years of foreign policy failing the neo-cons in every battleground, the neo-con still greatly believes in its military mission. The want-to-be Napoleons who hadn't won a single war. Interestingly enough, I don't even think they've served. But, picked up via Liberalism as well has been the support of proxy states/actors, which Hillary once called "irrational". These irrational actors had been armed since Iran-Contra, and the consequence has been the very rise of radical extremism we were supposedly against.

Which is why I'm anti-proxy state. The only successful proxy state is Japan, and even then I'd like Japan to claim more independence as Obama has alluded to towards the end of his term. In short, the neo-con legacy is a warmongering regime that still has its eyes on Washington.

Fake news stories that are going viral on Facebook and false stories on Facebook such as “Pope Francis endorses Trump” won huge readership during the presidential campaign, which played a part in Donald Trump’s victory. The problem is that most young Americans get today's news from Facebook, on which one cannot differentiate real news stories from fake ones.

The left is suddenly concerned about "fake news" as a guise to limit free-speech. Here is some fake nose. Trump has never called for a Muslim registry. That is an invention of corporate media.

Infowars?....Alex Jones???....Isn't he the lizard people guy? Not sure if that's really the sort of person you want to rely on in order to be 'informed'.
Sure, perhaps its true that he has been right about a few things in the past,...but you do know what they say don't you,...
so too is a broken clock right on occasion...but that doesn't mean one should ever use it to tell time....know what I mean?

As for the dilemma on how to differentiate fake news from real news,...one thing we as individuals can do/one thing we must do,
is to seek out and even demand evidence for all these various claims that get made,...and to provide such evidence
should we be making our own claims. And not to suggest that it is a panacea, but a video is often perfect for this...

For instance:

We could of course argue till the cows come home as to what he meant then, or what he intends to do now,
but as to what he actually said,...the specific words that came out of his mouth,...there should be no question
of when there is clear video evidence.

So please people, if someone makes a factual claim about something,
seek out or demand that they provide you evidence before you go believing in it....

The official statecraft of his administration in violation of oath of office, and possible display of cowardice in the face of the enemy, rejected freedom of speech, and now the leftist Engrish teacher will say that “others” does not include “Satan”:

"We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others." (Obama, in the Rose Garden)

Defamation is still illegal. Nothing odd about that.

Oh he said he wanted a database and good management on that. There is no question about that he said that stuff in an interview.

First if you listen to the interview you will notice that the reporter is trying to bait him. Next you will notice that he doesn't really answer these questions directly and it isn't really clear that he is directly addressing with reporter baited him on. A database for people coming in from other countries that spawn terrorists? Sure. A Muslim registry? Nope. You have idiots like George Takei claiming he'll be the first to volunteer for the Muslim registry. He is an American citizen. This is the kind of crap that the media pushes.

Obama has no room to talk about false news stories. They are the hallmark of his administration, both terms. He presented the false story regarding the raid at Abbottabad that supposedly killed the already dead Osama.

The public perception is totally manipulated by people like Obama and his predecessor. What Colin Powell did at the UN was a complete fabrication.

A threat to democracy? Sounds bad... I'm just wondering why wouldn't he caution himself against "active misinformartion".

Oh yes, everyone that disagrees with you is 'biased', because you are somehow the perfect center of politics by which everything is measured. I'll agree that MSBN is biased, because moderates generally say that MSBN is biased, but I'll also say that Fox News is biased, because moderates generally say that Fox News is biased. 'Bias' is in itself subjectively measured, and the only way to objectively measure subjective things is based on majority opinion. The majority of people do not consider CNN biased.

"is there going to be a database that tracks the Muslims here in this country?"

"There should be a lot of systems, beyond database, we should have a lot of systems, and today you can do it," Trump responds. "But right now we have to have a border, we have to have strength, we have to have a wall. And we cannot let what’s happening to this country happen."

"But that's something your White House would like to implement?"

"Oh I would certainly implement that. Absolutely."

"But for Muslims specifically, how do you actually get them registered in a database?"

"It would be just good management. What you have to do is good management procedures and we can do that."

So....
He really did answer the question by mentioning "database".

What a panic, Washington has coups and calls them democracy and elected leaders dictators, and now wants to curb news sources which present factual accounts by saying it harms democracy. :wall:
