Im a Lutheran, and the catholic church was utterly corrupt, selling tickets to heaven to murders cutthroats and thieves.

Precisely why Luther broke off from the Catholic Church (in addition to the whole relics thing and purchase of gaudy decorations instead of feeding the poor).

I am not Lutheran today, or even religious, but I admire the strength and courage he had to stand up to such an immensely titanic monopolistic institution and say. NO! And then continue on to fight for the freedom of choice.

Your story has nothing to do with whether Protestants were Catholics before they became Protestants. And we have been talking about Christians before Luther.

I love the way Protestants try to avoid being blamed for the Crusades when every Christian was a Catholic before Luther.

You specifically said my ancestors were Catholics before they became protestants. They were no such thing. They would have fallen on their own swords before sending a tithe to the Pope.

Immediately after WWII Ho appealed to the US to support him against the French colonials, as we had promised to in order to have his aid in WWII . We did not keep the promise we had made Therefore he looked to Stalin for aid and in order to get it he had to follow Stalin's orders. Ho said several times that the man he admired most in all of History was Abraham Lincoln. The man we ultimately supported against him declared himself a great admirer of Adolf Hitler.

Please give me the exact quote where Obama said that Communism was inspired by the US Constitution.

Ho was a socialist, his economics no more communist than the Labor Party in England now

We helped free them from the Japanese, and were forced to choose between France, and Vietnam.

He chose Communism and Stalin all on his own.

“...we discussed the fact that Ho Chi Minh was actually inspired by the U.S. Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the words of Thomas Jefferson.”

-- President Obama talking to reporters alongside Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang.

Ho Chi Minh was a communist.

Ho Chi Minh, real name Nguyen Tat Thanh (1890-1969), Vietnamese Communist leader

    Thats from Marxist.org.....

Did we wrongly choose France? I think that choosing an imperialist country over people who wanted to be free of imperialism was the wrong choice.

You weren't talking about anything in our lifetime either. I find it curious how you avoid what Islamo terrorists do in the name of Allah which is quite current. I wonder why.

You can infer whatever you like and no matter how wrong it is. Now if you wish to pursue your strawman, look up the Gulf of Tonkin resolution which defines how Nam did attack us. No charge for the lesson...............

    I don't get it.

Ho Chi Mihn's bio is readily accessible as is the history of vietnam, and yet we have people presenting the most inaccurate nonsense about his political motivations and the actual events surrounding his career and the wars he fought.

And the ignorance of the history of america's involvement by americans is amazing - not surprising unfortunately, but amazing none the less.

I guess simple research and gaining command of facts before spouting off is no longer in style.

That's not it at all, because we could easily destroy Islam if we ever woke up to the fact that it is the natural enemy of mankind. If we appease these bandits, they can carry out any threat they make. The reason the thieves and traitors in our ruling class tolerate the enemies of America is that they make trillions off collaborating with OPEC price-gouging. They think they will continue to profit and their sheik-and-bake partners will always be their friends. That never happens, but our rulers think that if they betray us, at worse they'll become the local agents of the caliphate, which they already are while still retaining national independence. If we dispossess and disempower the 1%, we can finish off Islam for all time. If we continue to look to our 1% for leadership, we will fall into darkness.

He also inadvertently freed science. Not only did the totalitarian Church lose its grip on people's minds while it was sidetracked into fighting Protestantism, but people took Luther's "figure out the Bible on your own" attitude and applied it to science, no longer inhibited by orthodoxy. In fact, the authoritarians today could blame Luther for planting the seeds of democracy, even though Luther himself was an agent of the aristocracy.

I think what he meant was we should have pressured France after the war to just let Vietnam be. Ho asked Woodrow Wilson the same thing after WW1, and we didn't do it then either.

I have no love for the islamofascists either. Any religious group that oppresses and seeks to torment others is a pile of (*)(*)(*)(*) in my personal book. I simply get into arguments with Christians more because they are most of what I encounter online and in real life.

The reality of history is completely different than leftys want to believe.

McArthur wanted to smoke all the commies in south east asia in the 1950s, all of them.

I knew men who fought under him in the Philippines. Know what they all called him? Dugout Doug. Always the furthest from the action, always telling them a real soldier fights to the end. Then he abandoned them under cover of darkness without even saying goodbye.

He had the gall to accept a medal of honor for his leadership while his former soldiers were slaughtered and put on death marches to POW camps as bad as any concentration camp.

They never forgave him for that, and I take a very dim view of him as well. The best things he accomplished were during peacetime (Japanese government reform).
