Most people don't realize that electricity comes from fossil fuels too.

Too bad so sad. Someone will buy their assets for pennies on the dollar and produce oil at much lower cost. A win for consumers and capitalism

How's that shale oil rig count?
    I guess the OPEC's plan isn't working.

With oil at $45 and rig count rising, I guess it's profitable this low. Last year I was reading shale oil was not profitable under $50/barrel. If they keep improving performance those petrostates are going to be miserable.

It's my re-entry point. Buy a little there and every $5 down add some more. If it goes back to just $50 you've made a nice profit.

Naturally like everything else it is a function of supply and demand limited by cost.

You cannot feasibly say "all experts say" without quoting ALL experts.

You can say "some experts say" and then quote some experts with links.

But in your case there was no link ergo the obvious conclusion is NO experts say and you were just pulling this out of your wazoo.

    N'est pas?

Exactly -- cost is always the limiting factor on supply and demand.

Then as demand raises the price the cost becomes more tenable.

Then the supply goes up and the competitors cut the price.

Then the price goes back down and the cost becomes relevant again.

    How does anyone know anything?

    Usually they are just guessing.

Because converting hydrocarbons into electricity to be converted into mechanical energy is less efficient than converting hydrocarbons into mechanical energy.
