Morality does not depend on the supernatural.

It's certainly handy to be able to say "God told me so", but humans can derive this stuff without resorting to that.

Everybody has an area where they would be considered "ignorant on the matter", whatever that matter may be. This does not exclude them from having other areas in which the other person is ignorant on the matter. For nobody knows everything.

Having said that.....yes, at this point I have reasons to believe the earth may indeed be flat, and the biggest lie in human history may have been told.

God did not tell "me" so. He told "us" so.

    in·iq·ui·ty
    iˈnikwədē/
    noun
    immoral or grossly unfair behavior.
    "a den of iniquity"

Ah, you mean god fearin' religious people. I couldn't agree more.

It is wicked and immoral to indoctrinate children.

Saying "god did it" is the end of the search for knowledge.

It makes logical progress impossible, as it is the ultimate, irrefutable, dead end.

You are bereft of intelligence. Even our near cousins, the great apes, would be ashamed to acknowledge you.

Do you consider your post to be evidence for god? I consider it to be evidence of the intense indoctrination you received beginning as a very young child.

I'm pretty confident I would know if a supernatural being told me something.

I don't have a problem with Christians. I have a problem with Fundamentalists indoctrinating children into simplistic beliefs. It stifles the brain.

I've asked for evidence for your god. All you can do is recite the nonsense that was forced into your young brain:
    • soul
    • eternal life
    • Jesus
    • God
    • Genesis

Is this your concept of the Earth?
    [IMG] [IMG]
If so, how do you explain the "apparent" movement of the sun from North to South to North which give us the seasons?

First question....because it is religion and people die for it all the time.
Second question...Poorly edited and there is only so much anyone can do to eliminate contradiction in fiction.

If the initial writing is crazy so will be the edits if you want to keep the jist.

No one will be able to disprove your Bible(s) to you...if the Nicaea stuff does not make you wonder then nothing ever will.

I believe the Bible is true, but some of what you say is not in the Bible, and other parts are misinterpretations.

For example, Eve was not tempted by a literal snake. The Hebrew word is "nahash", meaning the shining one, and also referring to a snake (because a snake is shiny when moving through wet grass). If you read Genesis, Eve was not talking to a snake but an entity she considered her superior - an angel. Satan is described in Ezekial 28, as being adorned with jewels and gold, the leader of angels - a shining angel.

Is the earth 6,000 years old? Maybe, maybe not. The Bible does not give a date of creation. Genealogies in the Bible are not comprehensive, such as Matthews genealogy of Jesus and Lukes genealogy, each written for a different purpose. Adding up the lifespans to get roughly 4,000 years to Jesus may not be accurate. But so what? God - the creator of the Universe - could easily create a working seemingly aged universe.

Is every single word true? I don't know, I believe all of it is divinely revealed, but I can accept small errors due to interpretation and understanding.

Wrong. I accept the Koran as evidence related to the validity of islam - it is the foundation of islam, islam can neither be accepted nor rejected a critical examination of the Koran. I have examined the Koran and hadith and determined they are false, and I reject islam on that basis.

In the same manner, Christianity cannot be accepted or rejected without a critical examination of its foundational documents and beliefs.

As for simple evidence of God, the Big Bang does nicely. So does the existence of life, the intricacies of human cellular activity, the complexity of the world.

No, that is not known. Homer may have exaggerated just as many modern movies take "artistic license" when claiming the movie is based on a true story. How much of Homer is true, or a composite, or imaginary is unknown. Homer used to be considered complete fantasy - until Troy was found.

Did you know that Moses wrote his stories in numbered chapters with numbered verses?

I belive that we know more about this than people living 5000 years ago

I believe that people in 5000 years will know more about this than we do

I believe that everything has a natural explanation even if we do not currently know what that explanation is.

The origin of life is something we currently know very little about. The fact that we know little about this subject does not prove there is a god creator....

Ancient people did not understand earthquakes, floods, droughts, lightning, famine, etc
They thought that the unexplained proved god
In fact, the unexplained simply proves we don't know everything

Many Muslims have examined the Jesus stories and determined they are false, and they reject Reject Christianity on that basis.

What it comes down to is you believe: My god is better than your god.
They believe: My god is better than your god.

A critical examination of its foundational documents and beliefs like the Great Flood? You have critically examined this tale and believe it to be true? Really?

    In other words: GodDidIt.

That is the same simplistic thought process that led people to believe a big man in the sky caused the loud booming sounds that followed lightning.
That is the same simplistic thought process that led people to believe praying to Aphrodite would bring love.

    Some things never change.

Homer's tales were based on his knowledge of a war. He did exaggerate.
The Bible's tales were based on mankind's knowledge of floods. The authors did exaggerate.
We know someone named Homer wrote the Trojan War tale.
The story of The Flood is attributed to God.
    You understand that Homer exaggerated.
    You deny that God exaggerated.

Yet we know that the concept that the Flood covered the entire Earth is a proven falsehood.
