This is a good topic for Trump. This will get the base going. Democrats need to balance 1) letting him get a political victory off of them and 2) letting him talk about it a lot and fire people up about whats wrong with the country. If Trump didn't have the immigration success, I don't think he'd be president right now. Democrats are nuts with this illegal immigrant thing and its a good position for Trump to push.

LOL. You think printing money creates wealth! OMG! OK, let's print a trillion dollars for every person in the country. Do you think we could tax everyone a few percent and payoff the national debt? Would everyone own a mansion, a vacation home in Southern France, three Teslas and a Lear Jet? Hell no. A mansion would cost $2 trillion, and a Tesla would be $500 billion. A loaf of bread would only be a couple of million. Wealth creation? You would hear a giant sucking sound as actual wealth gets turned into play money. They tried that in Weimar Germany. The wheel barrow industry did well because everyone needed one to carry the money to buy bread.

But point out to me an area where government is actually creating wealth. I'll vote for it. And of course creating wealth means it requires zero funding from taxes.

No, one example of creating wealth is to produce more revenue than you collect in funds. Turning a profit. And there are probably several government agencies that do such, but I dont have the time at the moment to research that list. But there also other ways of producing wealth that take longer and show up in numerous ways.

The train in my city, for example, took millions to build and probably millions each year to maintain. But that train facilities an easier flow of traffic and helps hundreds of thousands of motorists avoid the single most expensive commute in the country. Those are also less accidents, less pollution, and more funds and time that gets devoted to other private industries. That is another example of the government producing wealth.

Good news everyone! Trump doesn't need any money for the wall in the budget because Mexico is already paying for it with the new NAFTA.

Commuter transit is a public convenience. It doesn't create wealth. People would create jobs and find jobs closer to home if the convenience weren't available.

I guess one could argue that maintaining the value of real estate in an urban environment creates wealth for property owners, so I could see that point.

Old logic claimed a shutdown would be blamed on the Republicans. Democrats would throw around the word "shutdown" to throw the R's into fearful obedience, it was like the D's calling everyone racist or homophobe.

But the last shutdown was blamed on the Democrats (it was called Schumers Shutdown). Times are changing.

Now Trump has owned "shutdown", he essentially told Pelosi that her threat of "shutdown" has been defanged (just like calling people racist or homophobe doesnt work anymore).

And people support Trump. obama weaponized shutdowns. During the Schumer Shutdown it was clear that the govt could "shut down" without much of an impact on people.

And some media are saying Trump surprised the D's by having an open meeting with cameras. It was clear Pelosi and Schumer were not comfortable, look at tehir body language. Pelosi had earlier claimed she would have an open and transparent House = Trump made her live up to it by having cameras at the meeting.

Personally, I say shut down the govt if thats what it takes to stop illegal immigration.

Both parties cry if they don't get their binky (Binky= The money you work hard for that is forcefully confiscated.) It doesn't matter if there is a D or an R by their name, the only difference is how much they steal and who they give it to.

That being said, the wall is worth the shutdown.

The realization that children run our government is shocking. I expect trump to have foot in mouth syndrome but it must be contagious. Nancy barely knew Schumer’s name in the post meeting press conference

 

Why is building a wall such an issue? Optics, I would assume because if ds allow the funding it will like like they’re caving. We can discuss the merits of a wall but in the scheme of government funding it wouldn’t be the only frivolous thing we’ve paid for. 4 billion out of a couple trillion is nothing.

 

She and Schumer looked like dull tools in the shed.
