It won't, of course..... what did you think about post #137 by Labour claiming this could be a political issue between York county employees? I think it could have merit.... this certainly doesn't seem to be about pace of play....

It could be. Either way the women were being harassed. Calling the police was downright shameful.

The son was a condescending pos as well, so I am guessing the Apple didn't fall far from the tree. The dad has just learned to control it better.

It is telling how the "golf pros" here were determined to find the women as belligerent slow pokes.

I feel ya there on the last part. My dad's a golfer and has won tons of prizes in the tournaments he used to be in so one of the things he gave me was a brand new golf bag, clubs, and drivers. I used to use them once a year in a company scramble when I'd go a few hours south for the annual sales meetings. After my son was born in 2016, I haven't had to make that last two, but as a right handed golfer, yes, my muscles would be aching the next day just like you said. Too many years past my days of baseball, which the learned bat swing doesn't help you with the swing you have to learn with a golf club.

I don't know. I recall Obama being a token and he wasn't Republican.

Oddly enough, these were members. BLACK members, who had never had the police called on them by this club before. But hey, anywhere racism can be tossed in. First black golfers EVER.

It had to be because they were black women. I mean, honestly, what else could it have been? These were obviously the first black women to ever play there, who were playing for the first time. Otherwise common sense tells me that they would have had the police called at a prior time for being black and female.

Sounds fair enough, however, I was not the one waiting for them. It would be interesting to see their score card. If they were shooting 8s and 12s, I can see the group behind them becoming impatient. But then again, one was a lawyer, so I don't trust what they wrote on the scorecard!:)

Wanting this to be a race issue does not make it one.

There was a threesome behind them. One of the 3 spoke to the press and said that they never caught up with them on any hole in the front 9. So clearly they were playing well and fast.

Okay. They may have mistakenly given the ladies a hard time for playing slow. They could be 100% wrong in their decisions. That still does not make this a race issue.

I had a marshal approach my group to warn us about slow play. I explained that we were held up by a worker who asked us to wait while he made a repair on the green. He became argumentative and gave me the impression that he didn't believe me. After his tirade, I asked if he would like us to skip the hole. He said "Just speed the hell up" and drove off.
Question: Can you tell me the race of each man in my group?

It doesn't appear to have been a mistake at all. The owner's father may have had a beef with one of the group, but that doesn't explain the antagonism towards the rest of the group.

Regardless of the reason, it is unforgivable that the police were called.

So you mentioned a personal experience with an angry course ranger. If this was a simple "hurry up" then it would not be news. They were harrassed, told to leave the entire club, have their membership revoked, and had the police called.

I did not argue with the rude marshal. I reported his misconduct to the manager and got an apology, a free round of golf, and a round of drinks.

If there was a pattern of harassing other black golfers combined with allowing white golfers to play slowly, this would support the claim that these actions were motivated by racism. Maybe the lawyer got argumentative???

It was a mess, but no evidence of racism.

There you go shifting the blame again. There is no evidence that any of the women did anything wrong. There is a mountain of evidence that the son and father did a lot of things wrong and showed a lot of bias towards this group. The group felt that the only obvious reasons for bias was that they were women and they were black. Another reason for bias was that the father was biased against one person in the group for personal reasons, which could include racism and sexism as well. You should note that the town has a strong history of racism.

Really it is on the golf club to explain their actions.

Still zero evidence of racism. Our whole country has a history of racism, but that has nothing to do with me. They may very well be racists, but they may just be rotten at conflict management!!! Only they know for sure. Everyone else is either assuming or being dishonest.

I've played golf all my life and I'm 56. Slow groups usually let the faster groups play through. That's golf etiquette. Maybe these ladies didn't do that. Major faux pas.
