People Are Getting Tired of One-Way Tolerance

….No, it’s a counter-offensive in a culture war that most people thought they were avoiding by saying “Live and let live.”

People feel betrayed. They really expected tolerance to go both ways. Normal folks extended tolerance to all manner of different people and it never occurred to them that they would experience bigotry in return. The idea of tolerance is, at its core, a good one. But everyone has got to be tolerant, and everyone has got to be cool.

What’s happening now is distinctly uncool. And people are tired of it.

The thing that these cultural aggressors do not get is that outside elite institutions, the support they have is wide but not deep. It was based not on agreement with some of the nuttier ideas but on the idea that you do not inflict unnecessary pain on others. Yet it seems the aggressors imagine that people really believe their lunacy. They don’t. And when they get angry, that will become apparent.

You are going to see more laws protecting women’s sports. You will see more laws banning sex indoctrination of kids and CRT as well. Just wait until people take aim at the government-subsidized universities, the hothouse where these ideologies sprout. The whole edifice of this strange successor ideology will burn as leaders arise who will take on the new intolerants.

It's kind of a cliché when libs howl that Ron DeSantis is even worse than Trump, but in fact, the governor will be much worse. Trump was elected to stop the elites’ new order. DeSantis will be elected to destroy it because Americans will no longer tolerate leftist intolerance. ….

Liberal and secular progressive intolerance is the last straw for many. This current elites offensive in the culture wars has drawn a long overdue reaction. The left has gone too far and pushed the live and let live majority too far. The pushback is finally here.

 

This author is exactly right. There was no culture war before. No the tolerant live and let live has been pushed a bridge too far by the secular and the cancel culture and the real culture war is now engaged. Disney and company have awakened a sleeping giant.

Because there are actually only two genders. The left has pushed this crap upon the rest of us for far too long. Every time we just went with live and let live to get along, they upped the ante and pushed for more. Then with Biden and a democrat congress and social media they thought they were going to cram their whole depraved agenda down our throats over our objects and make us enjoy getting bent over a hot fender with no Vaseline. We aren’t going to take it anymore!

I thought the author favored live and let live. The complaint was that we've moved to a place where live and let live is no longer the case and replaced with live as we say.

If we move back to declaring depravity on any perspective that isn't "normal" don't you become the monster we are trying to slay here?

 

What monsters? Live and let lives assumes you’re not trying to change everyone else’s way of life to suit your extreme minority position. Trying to change language, force unreasonable and untenable DE&I quotas along with controlling how people are even allowed to think, is crazy. Right now the extreme left has a stranglehold on culture because they control most influencing it. It’s their way or the high way. And because so many cowardly leaders are so frightened of upsetting them, they have the power even though they shouldn’t have any power. Luckily they’ve played their hand too hard and people are pushing back.

 

I didn't write the article I'm just trying to establish if we are talking about live and let live and tolerance as a good thing as the author states or a bad thing as the OP has implied.

Your position is pretty clearly stated there and I appreciate that, but if that's the case all I'm saying is make it without the pretense that you're actually championing tolerance.
