Yes, and no. You need a quality QB that's a good decision maker. I could stand for 45 seconds in the pocket thanks to my O line but if I throw the ball in what I assume is single coverage (man on man on the edge) but there's a poaching line backer or a safety that can read (or do their job well) then that's a waste of an O line giving me all that time.

Since 2015, he's been an up and down decision maker. Way more so on the down side. He should also audible those designed runs when he sees a completely stacked box. He's not fooling anyone with his fake helmet tap.

That also gets into coaching imo if you gotta game manager don't call the plays like he's elway or brady. It's been shown a game manager can be successful (Dilfer, Brad Johnson).

A QB who doesn't turn the ball over a roster with talented linemen and a scheme that physically drains the defense. Once the linebackers start creeping up throw one over the top cause you'll likely have man coverage. Plus in Carolina they got a jack of all trades rb. I'd say the Panthers problem is alittle of Cam and Cam and the coaches are playcalling unrealistic

As far as Cam himself idk those hits add up. Is Will Grier the answer? He was pretty good at West Virginia wasn't he?

After week one the following is apparent:

    1) The Patriots have one of their best teams ever. Possibly a serious shot at going 16-0 again.
    2) The Dolphins are fielding one of the worst NFL teams ever. Possibly a serious shot at going 0-16.
Word is that the Dolphins are so bad with so many players wanting to leave that the NFL main office might have to intervene in running the team if they continue to deteriorate.
    3) And the Patriots and Dolphins are in the same division.

1- maybe but what stock do you put into AB's ability to upset team unity
2- i think they're purposely tanking for a Franchise QB after Ryan Tannehill didn't pan out
3- on top of their Shakey QB situation at some point you'd think it'd be demoralizing playing in the same division and knowing you'll lose before you start. Much the same with the rest of the league tbh lol

The last spread that I saw on the Miami/Pats Game was around -19.

By game time the Pats could be one of the Biggest Faves in recent history.

Imagine if people started pounding the Pats, and the spread got over -20?

That said, it is one of those games where the Pats could be up 35-0 at he half.

I have a feeling that Brown is going to be on his best behavior (by his standards) with the Patriots. He wanted to go there anyway. He wants a Super Bowl ring. I don't take this rape allegation seriously as it was never a criminal complaint.

The Dolphins management made a huge mistake by giving the idea that they are going to tank this entire season just so they can get the absolute first draft choice.

    1) For starters, there is no assurance that a savior QB will even be available with the first pick next year.
    2) Next, savior QBs have a common habit of not actually panning out in the pros.

    and the big one

    3) They have nearly 50 players who they are basically telling that they don't matter. That is whole season of their careers is going to be sacrificed for a draft choice. That they are to risk injury just for that. And this is why a bunch of players want out.

I can foresee if a few more fiascos like the Baltimore game happen you're going to see several of the veteran Dolphin players during the season get what amounts to the football equivalent of the "blue flu". Claiming illness or injury so they can't play and risk real injuries in utterly pointless games.

This is one of the things that the NFL office really fears happening in this their 100th anniversary season.

Oh to be in a division with the bills, dolphins and jets . Like a free ride to a division title year after year.

that has been one of the keys to the Patriots success for the last 19 years or so. I saw an article that showed how winning against the division opponents was a huge step forward for the Patriots in locking up home field advantage in the playoffs.

This year the Patriots don't face a playoff team from last year until week eight of the season. The Steelers were about the best team they'll face until then.

Ya you almost always bet on the Patriots to do well although the last time they had a true star receiver (Randy Moss) they looked amazing in the regular season only to fail so idk whenever you add a new part there is always a risk

About the dolphins ya I agree they pretended to not be tanking but it's pretty hard to sell that after the Tunsil trade.

And about your star college Qbs not planning out I agree that does happen alot and I wonder if it's because those teams have losing cultures and zero support for these young qbs. The perfect way to call plays for a young QB is how Ben Rothlisburger had it when they won the Superbowl. I think they need these qbs to be the savior so they rush them maybe

The Bengals don't always suck though or the ravens. A good comparison to AFC East is AFC south look at the colts record against the jags Titans and Texans lol...... The Titans literally never beat Luck I think he was 12-0

Just looked since 02 the colts have 90 more regular season wins than the next closest team in AFC south and in the last 16 years the colts won the division 9 times Houston 5 Titans 2 and jags 1

    Great point, Mr. Dayton.

The Pats closed at -18.5 at Westgate.

It is 13-0 at the Half.

I wonder if they will cover.

Speaking of Big Ben and Pitt....

They lead 10-7 at the Half (closed at -4).

Week 2 is turning into a massacre for NFL QBs. Brees, Rothlensberg, Wentz. all down. Ok, Wentz is back in his game (Eagles/Falcons).

Anyone else get the feeling the Bills will go 3-0 today, and then be 3-3 in 3 weeks?

Even if they lose the next 2 and go into the Bye Week 3-2, Miami should be a very winnable game in 4 weeks.

Worst case (one would think) would be 4-2 after the Miami game.

Plus, Miami is an Historically BAD team.

They are intentionally tanking this year.

    At this point, why not?

They should try to get the #1 Pick and then go into a rebuild that takes hold so they will be ready when Brady retires.

Tanking is a horrible way to rebuild. Sure, grab a 1st overall pick that may be great, or may be awful. Tanking doesn't rebuild your team. It takes a long time to rebuild. Tanking only lowers morale and provides little motivation for better players to want to build with that organization.

I don't think Cam Newton will be back at starter after his injury. Kyle Allen is putting on a great show against Arizona.
