    Depends. Hispanics have different histories as they are many types of Hispanics. All I know is that the opening post mentions that AAs and minorities complained. I see AA and minority as redundant so obviously some people of another faction along with a few AAs complained.

    Because in 1776, while America gained independence from the British, many were living as enslaved people in America. They didn't get their independence until decades later.

    And some were white. So maybe we should end the national holiday for it was such a sad day for the country and humanity? American did not bring all the African slaves here. America inherited a deeply ingrained slave based labor system courtesy of the Europeans and Africans themselves.

    How ridiculous. And insulting to the blacks who fought in the Revolutionary War.

    Furthermore, would a 'Party like its the present day' theme be off limits too because 35000 Africans still face chattel slavery in Sudan? Maybe these people should spend more time trying to help these slaves in the here and now.

    Wait, scratch that, can't be used to wedge apart racial divisions for political gain.

    Actually that would have depended on whom you asked in 1776.
    That would depend on which state they lived in. I daresay black residents of MA, NJ, and NY generally had plenty to celebrate, seeing it's not likely they'd have had suffrage back in Mama Africa.

    I grow weary of the way so many in the ethnic communities continue to demand that a modern society apologize for the historical version of the nation. I don't see these say malcontents marching in the streets attempting to put a stop to modern human trafficking. Why not? Where is the Black lives matters folks thronging to the streets in protest over the very alive slave trade in Libya these days? How about Eritrea? DRC? How about the atrocities happening in modern Mozambique or S Africa?

    I'll put a fine point on it. They don't give two squats about it. None of it. The gross hypocrisy of the minority is demonstrated daily in our nation these days. Kids can be oh so offended by the mere mention of historic slavery, and yet, these same highly entitled social justice warriors will purposefully ignore the real warts of the world. And why shouldn't they? You can't get a government provided cell phone, or whatever other handouts the governments of this nation can and do shove on them.

    The fact that the horrors of slavery won't likely ever be in these folks lives still doesn't make them recognize the real horrors all around them in the world just outside our borders..

    If white privilege and discrimination didn't exist today I would be more inclined to agree but it's DEEPLY rooted in America and still effects people and it's NOT RIGHT and shouldn't be dismissed.

    And I would say that you're afraid of a ghost that has no substance. We can be outraged, there are so many examples of these kinds of atrocities around the globe. Focusing on nonsense is a total waste of your and the rest of our time.
