Something must be done to stop the voter fraud. It's a wide spread problem and it has been for decades. There's no reason not to require supporting documentation for citizenship. I still think a national ID is still a great idea.

So poor people should not have any representation in government? Honestly?

What if I have paid taxes my entire life, but due to a medical issue, I have to declare bankruptcy, and loose everything ( a very common thing here in America )

Should I now have no say so in the future of my country?

And lets say we do this. Whats to stop someone elsae from coming up with a reason to keep people from voting that they dont like? Maybe we can make a law saying that all people named Jeff cant vote now, for whatever reason.

Once you start to find reasons to exclude people from the voting process, good luck stopping it. You will have a whole slew of unintended results.

Obviously I dont support your idea.. In fact. I think its one of the worst ideas I have heard in a long time.

So how to people over seas vote? They just loose their ability to vote? Would you really deny the US troops fighting over seas their say so?

There is only one ID in the U.S. that I am aware of that is proof of citizenship- and that is a passport.

Driver's licenses, birth certificates, gun permits- none of these are proof of citizenship.

So do you think that everyone should be required to provide proof of citizenship? If so, that means requiring everyone to show their passport in order to vote.

OFF TOPIC!!! The thread is about not permitting NON-CITIZENS to vote, not about poor people. It's not about somebody that somebody doesn't like, and it's not about people named Jeff.

Nice try at obscuring the issue, but you failed. And to say it is improper to exclude some people from voting (for a very good reason) is one of the most assinine things I've ever heard in the forum. The "Once you start to" notion can be applied to anything. It's ludicrous.

Frankly your reply is off topic also.

But since neither you or I are moderators, it really isn't our concern.

Just a thought, showing your drivers licence is Not proof of Citizenship, that takes a Birth Certificate or Proof of Citizenship Form to do, along with a picture ID, maybe 2, everyone have theirs?

    1. I don't know why you talk to me about a drivers license Not proof of Citizenship - did I ever say it was ?

    2. The reason why YOU are treated with disrespect is because you earned it, by using false words ("admitted") to try to convey false ideas. You must think PF readers are pretty stupid. Caution: They're not.

Which you cannot get without the forms I stated.

    It was a general thought.
I treat others as they treat me, and it wasn't me screaming, that would be YOU and that is why I mentioned it.

Gotcha. I will just assume that you DO want to deny poor non tax paying people representation in government then based on your complete dodge of a question, that WASNT EVEN DIRECTED at you.

Shame on you. Why would you want to deny anyone the right to vote who is legally allowed to? ( and please note, that the question I replied to was originally phrased as not allowing NON tax payers to vote. No nationality was mentioned )

Im oh so terrified of the big bad bully who types in big giant red letters also btw. Can you see me quaking in my boots? No?

You seem to have some unaddressed anger issues you might want to seek therapy for. Just a suggestion before you let that unchecked agressive temper of yours get you into trouble.

I have an idea about this that might please those who believe ID isn't required to vote in US elections. I suggest that a few million of us conservatives bus-in to Mexico for their next election. We'll vote for whichever Mexican candidate supports border control! If our government won't protect our border, let's vote to have Mexico to do it. Now, wait for the libs to tell us that US citizens aren't allowed to vote in Mexico.

Being on US soil does NOT qualify a non-citizen to vote! Anyone arguing the contrary is an idiot.

As a liberal, I encourage you to vote often in Mexico. Let us know how it turns out.

    Who is arguing otherwise?

My reply was not off topic one iota (but seeing as how you are a repetitive harassing troll, anything will do).

The topic is should people have to show proof of citizenship to vote - yes or no. My first sentence was > " The thread is about not permitting NON-CITIZENS to vote, not about poor people." Obviously ON Topic. Second sentence was > " It's not about somebody that somebody doesn't like, and it's not about people named Jeff." Again, it's talking about what what ought to be required for voting.

Then I replied to his statement about excluding people form voting. Perfectly proper post. Now go haunt somewhere else, Mr. Troll.

Good thing you're not holding any political position of power (or at least I sure hope you're not). Now that that's settled ,

    1. Where in hell did you get the idea that I was OK with denying poor, non tax-paying people representation in government ?

    2. Where did you get the idea that I want to deny anyone the right to vote who is legally allowed to?

    3. My big red letters have always been in my posts here for years (are you new here ?), and they have nothing whatsoever to do with anger. (sometimes they're turquoise, sometime purple, sometimes green). If you had read my OPs and posts for a while, you'd know that.

    4. You might try be a little less assuming. It will get you trouble, time and time again.

Again the only document I know of that is proof of citizenship is a passport.

Your post doesn't address my point at all. A citizen is a citizen regardless of whether the person can prove it or not. But this thread is about providing proof of citizenship in order to vote.

I do not know of any document in the United States that proves U.S. citizenship other than a passport.

A Birth certificate would prove that a named person was born in the U.S.- but doesn't establish that the person is a U.S. citizen- he or she could have since renounced their U.S. citizenship, or they could have been the children of foreign embassy staff- in either case they would not have U.S. citizenship.

If you have any other documents which you believe are proof of U.S. citizenship, then name them. Otherwise your post was OFFTOPIC- lol.

Birth certificate is adequate proof, and is accepted generally throughout America. You're overthinking. Common problem with liberals.
