Where was the hyperbole in the post you were responding to ? Standing on a soapbox with hands over eyes, ears, nose, mouth and any other orifice that might let the bad news in crying "NO NO NO - Hyperbole" is not an argument for much ?

 

It is not hyperbole nor exaggeration to claim that the military kills people (including fetuses, women, children, babies and so on).

It is a statement of fact. It is not exaggeration to claim that many people are pacifists - do not like our military killing innocent civilians and making war in general.

 

In general, the U.S. military (and most of our allies) seek to avoid killing innocent civilians if possible.

 

Right - that is why the term "Collateral Damage" = intentional killing of innocent civilians was invented... or the phrase "Human Shields" as justification for killing innocents.

Regardless, this does not change the central premise that some people are against war in general .. as innocent civilians end up getting killed or that they are against increased military funding simply on the basis that we are already well protected at current funding levels.

Try and connect your comments to the context occasionally.

 

Nobody but nobody likes war but sometimes you have to break out the M-16s and kick butt, unfortunately it is impossible to completely avoid collateral damage. Perhaps someday the human race will evolve past war but till then it is a fact of life.

 

I see you avoided the "and all others", "I guess you just LOVE", after further review not only does if fall under hyperbole but also on personal attack and unsubstantiated accusations

I think the FoxHastings needs a lesson on how to post in generality and stop accusing posters on a personal level

In the American judicial and penal system intent matters. It can be the difference between 4 years in prison and life or the death penalty for the same end act and the same dead victim.
