:) Uh, ya, that's exactly what slave owners thought when they were told they were wrong, that they were going to be controlled by not having slaves anymore....did those Johnny Rebs LOVE those politically correct Yanks? No, and they knew, since they were being shot at, that the yanks didn't like them...

not surprised you identified with slave owners, they controlled women and forced them to have kids, too..

Unless you can explain it in much greater detail I do not understand and will not accept.

    1) That antiabortion rights people "hate" women.

    2) That antiabortion rights people want to "control" women.

Taking care of the poor is also an Opportunity Cost. Property tax is an anathema to one of the principle tenets of freedom - "right to own private property".

You were the one that suggested "bake sales" to pay for things. Now you are suggesting something different.

    1) Why would someone try to take away someone else's rights if they liked them ? It's a terrible thing to do. Would you like it if someone tried to take away your rights?

    2) Anti-Choice people want to control women by taking away their right to their own body....that's so verrrrry obvious . You don't think attempting to take away someone's rights isn't trying to control them !!!!!!!!! Passing legislation to defund accessible , affordable health care or passing legislation aimed at restricting or hampering access to abortions, trying to force ultrasounds on them, trying to force "counseling" on them IS trying to control women.....who else has abortions???????

HEY! On a lighter HAPPIER note volunteerism and contributions have flooded Planned Parenthood in the last 6 months :)

Thanks to D.Trump being elected PP gets even more support :)

This argument, since we're discussing morality, is simple. An unwanted pregnancy is not a violation of the mother's right to consent except in cases of rape. In all other cases the mother participated in an action that could, in fact, lead to pregnancy. That being said, while there is a chance that a pregnancy can cause harm to a mother, there is a guarantee that a murder will take place if a fetus is aborted. The moral option is to side with chance brought on by negligence over guaranteed murder.

Do not use morality to argue this point, you will lose, extremely badly, on these grounds.

That being said, I want to reiterate that I'm pro-choice.

In order for that to be true, everyone would have to agree that abortion is murder per definition. Are you capable of understanding that people may not agree with you on that?

I'm capable of the belief that people are incapable of rationalizing arguments from an equivalent standpoint, yes.

It means that if you're arguing morality you have to accept that the murder of life is a more egregious offense than the risk of complications of pregnancy, and therein, that if someone risks putting themselves in that situation, the resulting "life" cannot be considered less valuable through the negligence of the mother. Rationalize all things being equal when morality is the base. This isn't difficult.

If you want to claim that the fetus's life is not more valuable than the mothers, you cannot argue from a morality standpoint.
If you want to claim the fetus is not a person, you need to argue from a philosophical standpoint.

You want to claim all life is equal. Its not. The fetus is brain dead and should be treated as such

A little known fact that the left doesn't want anyone to know is that slavery was already on it's way out before the start of the civil war. The civil war was really about the industrialized North wanting to gain control over the agricultural South. Keeping and feeding slaves had become to expensive for the plantations. It was more cost effective to pay them and let them take care of themselves. But the liberals don't want you to know that it was the democrats that prolonged slavery to the bitter end not the republicans as they would have you believe.

The typical resort of those with nothing to back up there hysterical rantings, insults...:)

    1) No, when you are attempting to destroy someone's rights there is NO difference to them if it's dislike or hate, the outcome is the same.

...and how do you explain wanting to destroy the rights of someone you LIKE!

2)So if someone needs a new heart they can just select you or one of your family members to give them a new heart? Afterall, you said there is nothing "sacred or special about someone's own body"".

If there is nothing sacred or special about one's own body then why are you so Anti-Choice? What is so special and sacred about a fetus?

Specious, we discuss in everyday common terms as do the doctors and health clinics and government agencies I have repeatedly presented to you over the years.

Sorry you don't to pretend otherwise, it's a baby that is killed in an abortion.

And no it is not a lie that you claim those who oppose killing babies hate women.

So the slave owners were already freeing slaves? So why did they fight so hard to keep them :)

and that doesn't refute a single word of the post of mine you quoted:

Better yet , a fetus is not a person from a legal standpoint. :)....You don't get to dictate others' morality. :)

Yes, a forced pregnancy is a violation of the woman's right to consent....consent to one act is NOT consent to any other act...

As to pregnancy, there is no "chance it will harm the woman, it does. ALL pregnancies cause permanent harm to women's bodies and ALL carry the risk of dangerous illnesses and death.

No one is forcing a woman to become pregnant (aside in the rare cases of pregnancy due to rape).

But once a woman becomes pregnant in my view it is her legal and moral obligation to carry that pregnancy fully to term unless it will result in a serious threat to her long term health.

Just a when a baby is born, even if the parents did not want it they have a moral and legal obligation to provide and care for it even it it requires them to make sacrifices.

Or "Foxhastings" are you going to argue that the parents of a baby should not be "forced" to fulfill their obligations regarding a baby once its born?

I suppose you would fully condone abandoning a new born on the side of the road if that was the "choice" of the mother or mother & father.

    A. YOUR morals don't rule the world.

    B. SHOW THE LAW that says a woman has an obligation to give birth....

Yes, that is because it is BORN and a person with rights....plus parents can give up their kids at any time....

They can't be forced, they either will or they won't.

Oh, I thought you might make it through a post without hysterical illogical ranting but you couldn't.

I can't answer the question because you have no idea what "unborn" and "born" mean so explaining it is impossible...

Laws can and do change regarding thorny moral issues FoxHastings.

It is good to know that when the law changes to recognize that a "fetus" is entitled to the same protections as a child (post birth) that you will be ready to get behind it and march in line because "it's the law".

    Kudos.
