The NFL started losing when Kaepernick started kneeling and other players copied him. Kaepernick was kept on while they started losing money. No team wanted him. Not necessarily because of his kneeling, but because his numbers were not that good.
Go back and read this thread. She has every right to protest. We have every right not to like it and to respond accordingly. It sounds more like you would deny our free speech.
Hmmm, so it's okay for you and the NFL to silence people, but it's not okay for Facebook? Why is that?
Women weren’t made. They evolved. And homosexuality has been around for the entirety of recorded human history.
Sick puppies? "takes out her sickness against"? Interesting, seeing as how females being the beautiful specimen of mankind they are, you do know that a majority of females find other females attractive...So you just technically called the majority of woman....sick puppies. D@nm dude..People with that train of thought "Lesbians are sick puppies" obviously may be the sick puppies, harboring some female issues...You needa get that checked out.
Perhaps you thought you made your lil girls to grow up for other men...But no, that is not their purpose. Woman can and do achieve far more then being "for men"
Just the right's hypocritical nature... when a conservative "protests", no matter what sort of hate speech they preach, if people don't like it or boycott it or ban it or whatever, the conservative is being "silenced" and their free speech and rights are being stolen from them... but when the shoe is on the other foot, it's all good to try and silence people, through boycotting or whatever. That's all....carry on.
Actually, Trump's fake, self-serving spin that some still swallow does not stand up to scrutiny: https://www.vox.com/culture/2017/9/26/16364210/nfl-ratings-down (Nor can 100% of Nike's surge in sales be attributed to their Kaepernick sales campaign.) Professional football remains extremely popular despite a multiplicity of factors: 2017 As the National Football League opens its season Thursday night, the league faces myriad challenges. A growing body of science connects playing football to dire brain-related health risks. Ratings sagged last season. Quality of play has been scrutinized. Another high-profile player finds himself enmeshed in a domestic-abuse scandal. Some fans are upset about players protesting during the national anthem, and others are angry Colin Kaepernick does not have a job. https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...478688d23b4_story.html?utm_term=.43a2acb38183
Again. Again. Again. She has every right to protest. I have every right not to like it and to respond accordingly. I don't know a thing about Trump's self serving spin. The NFL lost viewers because of disrespect for the National Anthem. I have stopped watching them as have a number of other people I know. Likewise, I will not watch the women's soccer team as a number of other people have stated. People can watch or not watch. That is not my concern. I will not watch or otherwise support them. I would have cheered them. Not now. They have made it clear that they do not represent me.
They strut around screeching their hateful chants like... ... and spew their disgust at patriotic Americans taking justified pride in the victory of their national team.
You bought Trump's self-serving spin. As has been clearly shown, a number of factors contributed to varying NFL viewership over recent years. Some became pissy about Kaepernick's silent protest, and some were angered by the NFL's collusion to prevent his playing. But, obviously, national attendance and viewership is about far more than one player. Why would that have reduced viewership of sports in general? Trump was also wrong when he falsely insisted that Nike sales would plummet when it hired Kaepernick, Sales soared.
Nor mine. Like many Americans, I have been watching far less NFL because of the exposure of the deadly consequences of head injuries and the league's refusal to honestly confront it.
What is the measure of equal? How much TOTAL revenue does the men's team generate versus the women's team? And his bill will probably be shot down as a bill of attainder and none of Congresses business anyway.
To whatever extent generated revenue, and not the principle of "equal pay for equal work", is a consideration, the women's team comes out ahead. No pending legislation is declaring anyone guilty without a trial. Crackpots can scream, "Lock her up! Lock her up!" but that is not an issue here.
Of course it does. Homosexuals have been around for the entirety of human history. They are a normal part of humanity.
Total revenue generated, broadcast revenue, ticket sales, merchandising etc.. If equal they have a case to make in negotiating with their employer. The Senate can stay out of the grandstanding.
Rapinoe is a sports figure. Playing sports has nothing to do with patriotism. She wears her politics on her sleeve, which some sports figures do. No big thing in my opinion. As for presidents, those of the president's party always seem to think their present president is the best ever. Those who aren't, those of the opposing party always think the present president is the worst. Nothing new there either. During Obama Democrats thought him the best ever, Republicans the worst ever. Republicans thought G.W. Bush the best during his time as president, Democrats put him down as the worst and so on. Nothing but partisan politics. Sport figures aren't patriotic, they're doing their job just like a banker, a construction worker, a Walmart employee etc. If they want to enter the the political fray, that's up to them. The only sports figure that comes to mind that I would call patriotic was Rocky Bleier, but not for what he did on the football field. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Bleier
The Senate addressing its funding of national teams is not "grandstanding." If you resent the world champion U S team receiving equitable compensation, you may wish to brace yourself for progress.
