That must be why it won a Teen Choice Award and brought in over $242 million.

... and I even had a dog that looked the same when I was a kid - still a movie about nothing.

They used 13 or 14 different yellow labs to portray each year of Marley's life.

What movies coming out of hollywood today aren't about nothing.

That's why they jam them with stars but its still crap.

Lets see the only thing i can remember about hollywood movies these days is

    1. Gays or gay themes always.
    2. Lots of swearing and abuse.
    3. VIOLENCE
    4. Jewish themes or people.

    Apart from that zip.

Then you have a rather short memory when it comes to American movies.

B grade movies have better story lines these days than that crap coming out of hollywood.

    Foreign film is good too.

Cause i have converted to foriegn cinema and B grade movies, story lines are much better.

The best hollywood movies are the oldies.

Some of the newer ones i really liked are

    1. Avatar.
    2. Life as we know it.
    3. Sweet home Alabama.

There are a lot of American movies which are crap, but there are also many that are very, very good. The Help is the first which comes to mind. Buried was enjoyable, Salt was brilliant.

American comedy shows suck (Americans just aren't funny) but their movies can be pretty darned good.

Wait - you are heaping (*)(*)(*)(*) on the Yanks for their so called crap movies yet you actually liked that garbage Sweet Home Alabama?

Excuse me while I split my sides laughing.

Marley And Me? How many turned up to watch that tosh just because it has the blond from Friends in it?:puke:

Strictly Ballroom? Murials Wedding? The Castle? Crocodile Dundee? Those made millions at the box office and are the most successful Australian films ever. Red Dog is in the top ten most profitable Aussie movies.

I grant you that most Aussie movies are (*)(*)(*)(*) - mainly because our Aussies head to America to star in crap like Thor - and we have mainly unknowns starring in our films.

It won a Teen Viewers Award and scored $242 million at the box office.

Crocodile Dundee? That movie was garbage.

Marley and Me: $242 million. $45 million on it release date alone.

Actually quite a few Australian movies have American actors in starring roles.

I agree that Croc Dundee was crap, and so were all the sequals. Marley And Me might have done well at the box office but a lot of bad films do good at the box office, and the good ones don't. The Wizard of Oz, when it first came out, was actually a flop - yet its one of the most known and loved movie of all time.

Not sure about your last statement but I don't recall a Yank in Murials Wedding or Strictly Ballroom which I do hope you have seen. They are very good.

It's not always about the money earnt.

I love French movies. Two which I thought briliant are Indochine and A Very Long Engagement.

    Indochine was truly excellent.

My favorite Australian movie: Breaker Morant

The reason it's so good is because it's so Australian. Shot is some of the harshest environment on the planet.

One has to understand the psyche of the miners in the movie and miners generally. Very hard men with deep down soft spots, especially for animals and children.

I've known a few coal miners. Tough as nails but a great sense of loyalty and mateship. And this comes through in the movie.

Not even close. Eight Below was the best. American, of course.

I can't really recall the last time I watched a US movie and said to myself, what a beautiful movie that was.
Your movies are created to entertain the stupid ones, there is nothing beautiful or challanging coming from your country. Intellectually most often disappointing, sorry mate.

Eight Below was excellent, but I think we are both being biased here. Of course we are going to pick movies made in our own countries.
