But if they pay so little that tax rate cuts don't help them, because they only help the rich, which is your argument, what are you gonna do, just write them checks?

the middle class pay taxes, how about we only address the middle class on this tax bill, not the rich, now we could close some tax loop holes on the rich to pay for them if you like

Affording something has nothing to do with equal application of the law.

I said how about we just work on middle class tax cuts rather then more tax cuts for the rich

But the undeniable fact is that Trump and the Republicans have been trying to sell the plan as designed to help the middle class. That is simply a lie when the overwhelming majority of the benefits accrue to the wealthy.

Then they try to muddy the water by confusing tax reform with tax cuts. It would be much simpler to reform the tax code without making tax cuts and increasing the defecit. Tax reform is just the fig leaf covering the real purpose of the Republican plan which is to further enrich Trump, the Koch brothers and the other wealthy Republican donors.

Oh, I get it, you're not satisfied with cuts for you if those wealthier than you get cuts too

Actually most of the middle class are already in the 25% bracket and that does not change under the current proposal.

No I just despise the fact that Trump lies when he says the plan is designed to help the middle class.

The tax bracket certainly is not being reduced. Now there may be some provisions that either hurt them or help them but the actual details remain to be seen. Cutting state tax deductibility or eliminating mortgage deductions will certainly hurt. Raising standard deduction will help although most of thst is offset by eliminating individual deductions.

The fact remains this is being sold as designed to help the middle class and that is quite simply a lie. Any help to the middle class is just incidental to the real purpise which is helping the rich.

How? Some of the middle class will probably get a little help. Some apparently will pay more taxes. How do you actually know which side you will fall on.

I'm with you on this. Let's reduce everybody's rates by a significant amount

Why? The defecit is already big enough without a big tax cut for the rich adding a few more trillions. And it isn't the incomes of the rich that have been static for thirty plus years. They are doing very well. It is the middle class that hasn't had a raise in decades.

Now I do agree with straightening out the corporate tax system but thst really should be a separate issue as well as simplifying the tax codes which could be done separately. Tying them all together is just a way of hiding the massive tax cuts for the rich.

Equal application of the law taxes a dollar of income. It does not distinguish a dollar from any other
