Republicans want to raise voting age to 21

Gen Z knocked the ball out of the park and that is even with many R governors suppressing their votes. Instead of working on a plan to help our country or anybody but themselves, they are hatching a plan to raise the voting age to 21.

It doesn't make sense that someone can go to war at 18 but can't vote for three years.

After much contemplation, my counterargument is...If you are old enough to birth a baby, you should have the right to vote and if the other parent is younger than 18 and still in the relationship, he should have the right to vote as well.

Rs are always claiming they are about "family values" and "moral majority" so let's get these undereducated, uneducated, unprepared, immature kids having kids a reason to try to make it work.

Maybe because Pelosi wants to drop the voting age to 16

 

They want to give sex changes to CHILDREN so it isn't surprising they want them to VOTE as well.

Dems want to lower the age and reps want to raise it. We know that the prefrontal cortex is not developed until age 25. Until then, much of information is processed through the amygdala.

This means that impulsive thinkers favor dems while those capable of taking long term consequences into consideration favor reps.

Dems want to delay second amendment rights until 21, so why shouldn't reps take this from their play book and run with it?

Although it's true that some Republicans indeed want to raise the age to 21 they apparently don't know about the 26 Amendment where it was lowered. The problem isn't with younger people having the right to vote; the problem is our educators are doing a piss poor job of teaching American civics to them making for better informed young voters.

Well it's something that would require a constitutional amendment to change, so it's not exactly an easy fix. Sure, in a perfect world, the voting age would be higher (except for active duty and veterans) but it's not a top 100 or even a top 1000 policy. Hard to understand why the OP made a thread about it like it was real proposed legislation.

 

Unfortunately, no, sorry. For that to happen, we would have to throw out the votes of those younger than 25 for all presidents since the 26th Amendment. But since that would not reverse all the damage that has been done to this country, I am afraid the contracts entered into while 18 to 25 will have to be honored.

 

Of course. Besides, do you think the now voting block of those below 21 would ever agree to it? These Republicans might think the 18 - 20 yr olds are dumb, but they aren't that dumb. Thus those calling for it aren't very bright.

 

Your claim is fake news. This would require 292 in the House and 67 votes in the Senate and then pass 38 State Legislatures.

That means it would take 359 Federal Lawmakers to even get it to the States. 1/10th of those would be 36 federal lawmakers. There isn't a snowball's chance in hell you can even name 30 lawmakers who have this as a stated this a legislative goal.

 

Raising the voting age to 21 isn’t enough in my opinion. I would like to make to where no one that makes a greater gain from government programs than they put into taxes in any given year should not be eligible to vote in the next voting cycle.

Teachers usually are bound by the dictates of Administrators. Educators is a loose way of referring to anyone in the education system.
