:puke: I sure hope not. We don't need another politician to preserve the status quo of catering to special interests, decreased liberties, and deficit spending.

Just like Obama blaming the tea party when they have very few in congress.

Paul in my opinion has some views that some feel would weaken national security.

I do not see Paul as a conservative GOP I see him as a Libertarian

So it does not matter the view but the reason for the view?

As for abortion it is not in the constitution and I would say the constitution would have more about a mother killing her child

You don't happen to have a picture of Rick Perry setting fire to it do you? Of course not. That picture is useless.

You could say he is a Libertarian at heart.
Again, as I mentioned before, look at our borders and tell me that we aren't kept safe but by the Grace of God.
Paul wants to station troops at the border, is for America first, without being an isolationist.
    I call that brilliant.

Is this the guy who held the prayer rally?
If so I would hope he was a huckster rather than actually beleiving that. Although America would be screwed either way if he got into power, the latter is much worse than the former.

Holy christ, for the umpteenth million time, Ron Paul is NOT an isolationist. Fast forward to 4:33 if you want but the whole interview is great.

He may have problem with doing that. Paul says a lot of things that he would have a hard time doing without the congress agreeing

Yeah, Mr. Jones is over the top. Yeah, he nails this one. Rick Perry is a con artist.

and as much as I and many other Texans would like Perry to get out of Texas, if he ever gets to Washington yall probably would want him to go back to Texas. Perry is CORRUPT...attended the Bilderberg conference in 2007 as reported by the Dallas Morning News..sold our roads to foreign investors, facilitated the biggest buyout ever of the TxU, tried to ram the TransTexas corridor down our throats, signed an executive order mandating all girls get the Gardasil vaccine (made a deal with Merck), stole our hurricane Ike money for his lavish rental after his mansion burned...I could go on and on.

Watched the debates thursday night, the mainstream media are in the pockets of their advertisers...they do what they are told which was to minimize Congressman Paul and put him in a bad light...the political analysts are also bought and paid for (after their money is endless).

I would urge all Americans to watch Congressman Paul's speeches on YouTube..you will get a better understanding of what he is all about...he won't get much money from the big guys, he is depending on us little people to go to the polls and get him on the ticket.

Politics begin on the local level...I am ( let me say I was) active in the local Republican party. They are all touting Perry, I asked them why and cited his corruption which they all are aware...they won't even talk about him...reason being that Congressman Paul would dry up their gravy train. I have now joined the local Liberty group. Ron Paul is running on the Republican ticket. Very classy, intelligent man...sadly that is not what the American people want.

While it is very improbable that Ron Paul will secure the Republican nomination the president, any president, has a lot of authority regardless of what Congress may or may not want.

For example, President Obama could have unilaterally withdrawn the US military from Afghanistan and Iraq. This is not an action that requires Congressional approval because the President has the Constitutional authority as commander in chief of the US military. The President could withdraw US troops from foreign nations once again based upon his authority as commander in chief. The President can veto spending authorizations and it requires a supermajority in Congress to override a veto. The president is not required to spend all of the money authorized by Congress. The president has a lot of spending authority even though Congress authorizes spending.

As noted Rick Perry cannot defeat President Obama in 2012. He is too much of a religious extremist and independents and Libertarians will not support him. He represents a greater threat to the United States than Obama. He would represent the "greater of two evils" and there will be little support for him outside of the hard core extremist religious Republicans that are the fundamental problem with the Republican Party today.

    Actually, Shiva_TD,

Rick Perry is liberal (to the chagrin of many conservatives) on several important issues.
    For example ...

Perry was actually a Democrat until 1989; the year before he converted to the GOP, he served as Texas chairman for then-presidential candidate (and current target of conservative disdain) Al Gore.

Perry, who presides over a state with a large and growing Hispanic population. has been criticized by Texas Tea Party groups for not pushing hard enough to pass a "sanctuary city" ban and other hard-line immigration legislation. In 2001, he signed the Texas version of the DREAM Act allowing children of illegal immigrants access to in-state college tuition.

Or the executive order he signed in 2007 requiring that Texas sixth-grade girls be vaccinated against the human papilloma virus, a sexually transmitted disease that causes cervical cancer.

During Perry's long tenure in Austin, Texas has been one of the nation's few bright spots when it comes to job creation, affording Perry credibility in making the case to business leaders and average Americans that he be a better steward of the economy than President Obama.

Some conservative bloggers have already seized on a list of 14 reasons Perry "would be a really, really bad [liberal] president." The list points to many of the issues mentioned above as well as tax increases. One blogger, citing the list, derides Perry as "a big-time globalist."

Note: Rick Perry insists the "well heeled" in Texas pay their fair share of taxes when it comes to our schools, roads, highways, our justice system and benefits for fatherless children.

    Good points.
I applaud his initiating the prayer rally, as any US citizen is entitled, and regardless of why (political gain or true intentions), the outcome of a call for repentance is always welcome in my book.
Perry is too slick in too many ways.
As a matter of fact, he reminds me of Obama, yes, really.
Be aware of silver tongued devils.
