OK, 85% approval, did he really have that high of an approval from republicans, or was it they didn't have a viable alternative?

That was a job approval rating amongst Republicans. An alternative is not applicable.

 OK, so ... It's my contention that 67% of Republicans are in play ... given a viable alternative to tRaitor tRump.

I'd vote for her over Biden, DeSantis, or Trump.

Of course, I'd prefer Tulsi Gabbard but that's not going to happen anymore than Cheney will.

Probably more than 67% could vote for someone other than Trump, but I dont see it as being possible that amongst the 85% that approved of his job performance, that more than just a scant few are going to vote for a true political lightweight that positioned herself as his biggest detractor and aligned herself with Democrats.

    Loyalty matters.

The primary is their (Gabbard / Cheney) biggest obstacle, and many States don't allow independents vote in primaries.

Republicans are fiercely loyal to their political leaders, so I believe the 85%. However, that 85% is about 22% of the total voters.

You're basing "a true political lightweight" on the fact "that (Representative Cheney) positioned herself as his (tRaitor tRump?) biggest detractor and aligned herself with Democrats"? Because I think Rep. Cheney has been a PROPONENT of OUR United States and the Constitution with which she has "aligned" herself.

Loyalty does matter. Ms. Cheney is loyal to her oath of office and the/OUR Constitution.

She has a 77% voting record according to American conservative union.

Stop associating ideology with attitudes about Trump.

I am calling her a "true political lightweight" by virtue of her being only a member of the house, and only since 2017. Five years in the House of Representatives is not exactly the resume of a typical successful Presidential candidate. While there have been a few house members that have went on to become President, they also held other far bigger roles in government before becoming President. She is the very definition of a political lightweight that lacks any semblance of gravitas. Her dislike of Trump has not one thing to do with that calculation.

If she were not a Trump detractor, hardly any of us would even know she serves in the house, despite having the last name Cheney.

She was involved in politics before getting a House seat, and now she it 3rd highest ranking Republican, but if being a 'lightweight' is so important, then why would anyone support a feather-weight like Trump and not a heavy-weight like Biden? Could it be that the weight class is not was important as you make it sound?

While it is true that Trump was a political neophyte, he was also a household name as a businessman for 30 years or so which is what made up for his lack of a political background, in addition to having the ability to enthrall audiences and engender excitement, which is not something I have seen even a hint of from Cheney.

Most Presidential nominees are either former Governors or Senators. A person whose highest accomplishment is being a member of the house for a few years would absolutely be considered a political lightweight. Could that be overcome? Perhaps, given the exact right person, but a person that has zero chance of being re-elected to their house seat probably is not the one that is going to buck that trend and ascend to the Presidency.

If you want to try however, I encourage you to get active in her campaign. I would sincerely get a legitimate chuckle if she were to run. Her doing so would not be threatening to me even slightly.

Yet she had risen to "Conference Chair" in the house of Representatives and was a Republican Rising Star before getting cross ways with tRaitor tRump.
And, now, because of her standing up to Benedict Donald, she is a National House Hold name, not to mention her family name also gives her cache. So, we disagree.

If you want to believe she is a viable candidate, that is certainly your prerogative. I personally would get a sincere chuckle if she were to try because I would see it as a nonsensical exercise in futility. I absolutely encourage her to do so.

If you'd like to get involved by volunteering and/or donating to her campaign, I encourage that as well. Hope springs eternal.

I seem to remember all the laughs someone got when, after an escalator ride, announced their run for the presidency.
I don't have a dog in the hunt, I just think it's not as far fetched as you're making it out to be.

Not being loyal to party leadership usually means they all turn on you and force you out, which will likely happen this year. Its like criticizing Stalin in the 40s. Who knows what happens in 2024.

    This is true.

I at one time never thought that Trump could win.

With that being said, that does not mean that therefore anyone has a chance because someone people thought would not win did. The Republican party rallied around Trump. The notion of them doing so at this point with Cheney is in my opinion unthinkable. She could not currently be elected dog catcher in a Republican district, and she most certainly does NOT have the charisma that engenders enthusiasm that Trump has which is what drove him to the nomination and the Presidency.

If you want to envision a run as an independent, I do not see where the math could possibly work for such a thing, especially for someone that has already alienated a very large percentage of Conservatives which is the side that is closer to her beliefs.

Regardless, you can have whatever opinion that you see fit. I see no reason to keep going around and around about this. You have stated your opinion and I have stated mine. There is not much else to say on the subject.

She's be fine. She'll go from Congress right into either a lobbyist job or a think tank one. She's going to be make more money than god as repayment for her faithful service to the establishment.

Apparently the establishment is more important than ideology. Who would have thought an Iraq war supporter would become the new hero to the left?

The opposite is true. If she had danced to the DC music to ensure a long career there, she would have kissed Trumps ring and sworn loyalty to the party. She refused to do that and it likely ended her DC career.

Don't think she is a hero of the left.

She was the third highest ranking republican member based on her conservative values. If anything, she has been faithful to her ideology and was ranked as one of the leaders of the ultra conservative freedom caucus. She was stripped of her rankings because she didn't fall in line with the republican establishment of kissing Donald's butt.

    Exactly.

Why do people think kissing Trumps ring is "conservative ideology" when the opposite is true.
