    Double Standards exist all over the place and they are entirely justified in a large number of circumstances. So Trump and the rest of the Roseanne fans can cry me a ****ing river over how Bill Maher was treated when he made the joke that Donald Trump was the spawn of an orangutan.

    A few thoughts here:

    (1) What Roseanne Barr tweeted was utterly repugnant; I would not wish to attempt to excuse it.

    (2) However, she touched the "third rail" of American politics: She derided Muslims, and a black person. (If her rant had concerned, instead, Christians--especially evangelicals of fundamentalists--and a white person--especially a conservative one--does anyone suppose that the penalty would have been so swift, and so severe?)

    (3) It is this political correctness that I find utterly appalling. (The left once stood against double standards. Nowadays, it seems to embrace them.)

    Do I recognize the hypocritical consequences of such? ...yes.

    "hey dont say rude things to this guy, hes a minority and so we have to treat him differently because equality"

    "but its ok to say rude things to this guy, hes not a minority and so we have to treat him differently because equality"

    See the problem there?

    The essence in each is treating people differently while exclaiming that equality is the reason.

    Since when do conservatives want to tell companies what to do?

    ABC is perfectly fine firing roseanne just like ABC was perfectly fine firing Maher.

    Oops yeah, Maher was canceled by ABC after he was too nice to the 9/11 terrorists.

    SO no, ABC acted as it has always acted. Roseanne and Maher said something stupid in public and both got their shows canceled.
