    And the manipulation continues.

Rotten Tomatoes, which is basically just an extension of the Hollywood box office machine, continues to play its role in the suppression of free speech.

They're preemptively coming out and saying they will remove any bad review they think is based on "hate" .. an entirely subjective thing.

(just like how Twitter and Facebook said they would be removing all "fake news" ... another subjective thing)

The take away from that is that if you give Black Panther (or other quota movies) a bad review then you're doing so because of "hate".

And as with every other leftist application of words like "hate" and "racist", the basis is entirely fabricated bullshit.

The group that has simply organized to express themselves (/cough something leftists do too) isn't "alt right" like this clown article says, they're just comic/movie fans with an opinion.

They even come right out and detail their exact motives (in bold) and you can see it has literally nothing to do with "hate".

Plus at the end of the day a vote up or down is an opinion with little consequence, so why suppress it?

And, of course, in the answer to that question we find the true and all too consistent motive of the left: identity hysteria.

They cant allow people to dislike, or be seen disliking, the Black Panther movie ...because "Black".

Just as they couldn't allow people to dislike, or be seen disliking, the Ghostbusters remake or Star Wars: TLJ movie ...because "women".

So in order to encourage obedience they artificially construct praise and popularity then combine that with threats of being labeled "racist" if one dissents.

"oh well everyone else liked it I better like it too because if I don't I'll be a hater"

    Such manipulation.

Oh and btw I've seen the movie, its not bad.

    Its legitimately not bad.

Its not good, its far from the best Marvel movie ...wouldn't even place it in the top 10 ...but its not bad.

The story is alright, the acting sucked IMO, the action scenes are few and far between, but the SFX were great naturally.

Point is it could have stood on its own without this gross manipulation.

Oh and I'd love to start a different thread on how the SJW mob started sending death threats to the professional critic that downvoted the movie but maybe we'll save that for another day.

I don't have an account so I'd have to make one to downvote the movie, which I wouldn't do since my opinion is that its an ok movie.

But interestingly enough new account detection is one of the ways sites like RT are using to suppress negative reviews.

They figure if you make an account today to review a movie that came out yesterday then you must be a "hater" and so your vote wouldn't count.

Other criteria include giving too many negative reviews, not reviewing enough movies, not reviewing on a regular basis, not having a profile, not having your account linked to Facebook, and so on.

At a certain point a shadow ban system engages and your votes stop counting.

So the censorship isn't just focused along the lines of "hate", as is the case with this movie, its a general effort to justify suppressing people's opinions.

This is a perfect example of why voting should never be done online......

I still plan to see it, though

I'll check the film out, as I like the superhero films...but I won't take any of the reviews from critics seriously.

In todays age any movie which brings in the usual social and political narratives will be praised by all the critics...like the last 2 garbage Star Wars films. Worst Star Wars films ever,(yes, even worse than the prequels IMO), yet because of the SJW casting critics of course all have to love them. This one will be no different. Critics will praise it simply because of it being a major Black hero and cast. Their honest take on the movie won't be really known.

I don't even bother with Rotten Tomatoes or movie critics anymore. Too obvious the narratives in play today. See what looks good and make your own decisions.

I want the movie to do well, and it probably will, but the overall premise is just moronic. The character himself and the actor I like. The ridiculous level of technology hidden is just too stupid and is too hard to "buy", no matter how they try to justify it. There is a level of believability that the Marvel Universe has constructed and this just throws it all out of whack.

That's how it was in the comics so naturally it's gonna be that way in the movie.

Clearly you are a racist ;)

You are 100% correct about the Ghostbusters and that disaster the Force Awakens. They just sucked. Hard. It had nothing to do with "strong" women. It had to do with horrible story lines and crapping acting.

The OP specifically reported on a facebook group that publicly announced its plan to sabotage the scores...

Regular IMDB user (in spite of what they're becoming) and a Black Panther fan (althought I'm just a white boy). I am no political correction fan, however, but even I was shocked at some of the reviews that were posted on the IMDB site, the one on the main page read like "When we wuz kangs". Keep in mind that this is a movie nobody saw.

When I got back on IMDB this morning, all reviews were erased, a boon to many of their authors. Freedom of speech is one thing, tolerance for stupidity is another.

It sounds to me like Rotten Tomatoes wants to block manipulation and prevent racist regative reviews because the characters are blacks. They didn't say they were going to block all back reviews and assume they are racist. They are going to block reviews they find evidence are based on hate big difference. And RT often is at odds with Hollywood since their ratings are really good at sinking Hollywood blockbusters that suck.

So you can't not like the movie without being racist.

    Liberal logic on display.

In the Marvel Universe, Wakandan technology is based on the exclusive possession of a meteorite metal - vibranium. That makes it outlandish, but to emphases it, its got to compete with flying aircraft carriers.

No, what I said was that negative reviews that are obviously racist or based on racial hate should be removed because they are unfair and aren't based on the movie's qualifications. Honest negative reviews should be kept.

If I was the owner of such an aggregate site, I would automatically delete reviews of "ones" and "tens", unless the flick is really remarkable either way.

Then people will just do 2s and 9s. And there are a lot of movies out there I would give ones and tens. How will you determine whether a movie deserves a rating like this or not?

I don't really care for Rotten Tomatoes scores(they put their seal on Xmen First Class)but I don't hold this against them. It's one thing to dislike a movie, it's another to hate it simply because who put it out. And then their's Uwe Bowells.

At least the flying aircraft carrier used recognizable tech, just bigger:) Wakanda looks alien and the tech looks more advanced than Asgard. It’s just so far gone it’s laughable.

I hope reviewers actually base the film on merit and don’t give it glowing reviews to insure it does well, so they can point out, “see, see, now even black superheroes can do well.” I think Spawn did OK at the time before SJWs we’re all the rage.

It’s why I’m glad Ghostbusters failed. It sucked and deserved it and it was because they tried to feminize it and stuck it to the man. Luckily the public didn’t fall for it.
