Basically. It is a way to distract from the manifest failures of far more important industries. It is also better than trotting out obviously faked up 'stealth fighters' that can't even fly. At least these weapons actually work, which is why we get the absurd exaggeration. Also a way to distract from what Iranian weapons are actually doing - murdering Iranian citizens who want basic human rights.

Please tell me which industries you have in mind? Where does your country, Australia, rank compared to Iran in these industries?

My posts find a tiny bit of their motivation in exposing propaganda like the one you allude to with the whole nonsense that followed Iran showing a prototype of a stealth fighter project it was working on in 2013. Since when do prototypes fly? The propaganda worked masterfully on gullible minds like yours to imagine (and claim in your mind) that everything Iran produces must be fake!

Iran produces plenty military equipment of all types, many of which have proven themselves in battle. These run the gamut: from missiles and drones where Iran ranks among the best in the world, to MBTs (tanks), submarines, frigates, even fighter planes (though Iran has focused on alternatives more). Tell me which of the myriad of weapon system Iran produces and has delivered to its military are in your propaganda infected mind "fake"?
Please tell me specifically what "absurd exaggeration" you have in mind in what I have posted about these drones?

interesting but the claim about the percentage of these drones being shot down is false.

These are 5 things you should know about Shahed-136 (only one of more than 50 different models of combat UAS Iran produces, with different specs, systems, size, etc):

    1- their circuit boards with hardened components make them resistant to jamming (see this Stars and Stripes article). Besides, in a long front and over the geographic distances at issue, it isn't practical or possible to have electronic jammers everywhere no matter how many NATO delivers to Ukraine;

2- the composite material for the frames are designed to make them difficult to shoot down by small arms fire ("it is hard to shoot down with small arms since the composition of the wing “tightens” when struck by small guns'),

3- "It flies in a buzzing manner and cools itself, making it hard to shoot it down along the heat trail."

4- It has a range (depending on weight of munitions it carries), between 1,000 to 2,000 km. And "Due to the low flying speed and altitude, air defence cannot detect the aircraft."

5- The Shahed-136 carries a very strong punch (“These drones are quite slow, but they also carry a powerful charge, so a hit from them is equivalent from a hit from a missile,” said Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Odesa region military administration.") The moment of impact and explosion caused in one attack against a Ukrainian military base is shown here: https://twitter.com/OleksiiKrasov/status/1577571098354401285

You have to love someone who has the time for something as chuckleworthy as this. Really desperate.

Here's the thing. Women don't get arrested and beaten in my nation for daring to show their hair or a bit too much skin. They don't get murdered for protesting. My government doesn't imprison & murder its citizens for daring to just ask for the most basic human rights and it doesn't slaughter people as they pray.

So, I don't have to spam the internet with fanboi posts about gee whiz military kit and other such propaganda and I don't have to pretend it matters if my nation can make a particular kind of drone. Why? because I don't need to distract from how evil my government is. I get to be proud of living in a nation where basic human rights are protected rather than jumping up & down about industrial production.

What distinguishes Iran from various countries which serve basically as the "geographic venue" for whatever is being produced by a select group of multinational western countries, or whose production is heavily dependent on their components, is that long-standing sanctions have pushed Iran to self-sufficiency in many of these industries. Watch and listen carefully to this video about Iran's Karrar MBT and even in this area (not one Iran has invested as heavily since Iran's defense doctrine sees tanks as largely obsolete in modern warfare), you will get the point (minute 4:00-4:45).

In the meantime, does @bigfella imagine Iran's precision guided ballistic missiles are fakes too? How about these other systems (among so many I could fill this page with): are they fake as well?

The ship is actually somewhat impressive, regardless of its true capabilities, and is a more legitimate warship than its catamaran forerunner.

Well I don't imagine the bodies of the people salughtered by your government for just wanting basic human rights are fakes. I don't think the women beaten, arrested and even killed for wanting to go out in public with uncovered heads are fakes. How about you? Do you think they are fakes? How about those people killed at Friday prayer? Are they fakes?

You seem more upset that I am not impressed by your arms industry, which now seems to be churning out copies of T-90s, copies of decades old Australian ships and cute little coastal subs, than by your government denying people basic human rights & murdering them for wanting to change that.

Before being able to discuss complicated, politicized, issues which are far less amenable to straight forward black and white answers, you have to show an interest in facts not just polemics. Your outrageous and misleading assertions based on protests in Iran which I sympathize with on the specifics at issue (Iran's hijab rules/morality police) but which concern me otherwise because of the foreign backed elements who are also trying to stir the pot to achieve their own inhumane objective of causing an implosion in Iran to turn it another Syria, Iraq et al, aren't as easily addressed in a forum like this. They require a knowledge and understanding of a host of things about Iran, its politics, history, society and more that you sorely lack. In any case, it is you who is trying to deflect. There is a thread about the protests and such and I haven't tried to spam it as you have tried to spam this thread. This thread, I might add, is one where the OP was based on an article in America's armed forces site, Stars and Stripes. I seriously doubt the author was trying to deflect from protests in Iran nor are any of the articles I have posted from western MSM could be accused of having such intentions. Yet, from your first message onwards all you have done is to deflect ...

    .....and more deflections.

Unless the author of that article is an Iranian citizen who regularly pushes regime propaganda to distract from the disgusting human rights abuses of the Iranian regime the nI don't see why they are relevant. That author doesn't post here and is irrelevant.

I have nothing to 'deflect' from. I live in a civilized country that I can be proud of and that I can criticize without fear.

I'll let you imagine as you wish. I truly find the direction of debate and discourse in the modern era to be almost hopeless. Mud throwing, accusations, polemics and insistent opinions, all to push one side or another at all costs...

Why is it that every time someone on these boards tries and give me an example of this I'm left with some dipshit black kid who takes a simple situation and turns it into a deadly encounter by resisting or running?

..there's no point in pitching up and posting pictures of useless bits of equipment and describing them as impressive and expecting much more than derisive comments about them. Iran can produce as many of those lumps of equipment as they want but know this, they are designed for the lower end of the expectations market. Seriously these and all the other items you are selling...I'm sorry to say....are not that good. They are cheap and nasty overpriced bits of kit designed as a conduit from IRGC companies to clerics in power and all the other snouts that trough at the IRGC bank accounts.... exactly like Russian graft and corruption. I would be willing to bet that the Russians are paying massively over the odds for those wee drone gadgets they're buying with cuts going to the Russians generals and cuts going to IRGC generals mullahs and and and..... but also an earner for the extension of IRGC activities in the not so wholesome area of terror and murder at both home and abroad so.....your mullahs can't suppress a nation without having people to do it and those people need paying....its a neat wee circle of graft and corruption and terror

It is interesting to muse over how wrong our expectations of the future, generally turn out being, even when billions of dollars are being invested in those mistaken visions of it. I can remember what doesn't seem that long ago, when done aircraft did not even enter into the big picture. The talk was of guided missiles w/ advanced tracking capabilities, and with fighter jets being able to track jets of the opposing side, when they were at great distances, well out of sight of pilots, who would just fire their missile, & trust technology to do the rest. With that image, it should have been realized that having a large fleet of highly advanced, expensive jets, if they would still be vulnerable to missile attack, was not the most practical way to go, but rather with legions of smaller, automated craft.

While it will sometimes remain desirable for a human pilot to be in control, the move toward further automation has already begun. It is a bit disconcerting to think of an A.I. controlled fleet, sure, not risking pilots lives, but what about their targets? How will the accuracy compare to human judgement?

Quite the whine .. of desperation .. har har har .. hee hee hee .. is under the kilt for all to see ::)

Darn impressive product coming out of Iran - hit that Saudi Refinery in 2019 with cruise missiles and drones from over 1000 km away .. Patriot system didn't even detect it never mind do anything about it..

Part of the Sea-Change in technology .. high end product in the hands of the little people .. technology filters down .. ... air defense can be done with hand held rockets .. to significant deterrent effect .. never mind the mobile systems these days .. and available to anyone with cash .. from umpteen different nations in on this game .. drone technology . .. too bad we are not seeing some of the Israeli stuff on the field .. don't think Turkey has anything either .. India would love to be doing some testing .. but smartly on the fence .. as well as china ... would really love to see some of that product.

arr barr ... har de har .. the global games are afoot .. plenty o plunder .. gone asunder ..

There are projects, including in the US but also even in Iran for fully automated fighter aircraft. I personally think UAVs (drones) and automated aircrafts will replace manned aircraft by the next decade. And I think the accuracy of these system will be better than manned aircraft.

I think you are confusing the description intended to be in quotes by The Drive regarding the Shahid Soleimani corvette catamaran with mine. The Drive is one of those well-known military sites that has done a good bit to try to ridicule some of Iran's projects or make unfounded assertions and assumptions about them, so when they say the vessel is "impressive", you can be sure it isn't "useless bits of equipment". And I'm sure the Fateh submarine isn't viewed as "useless bits of equipment" by the US navy/CENTCOM either.

The UAS ecosystems are already pretty much fully developed its just that a lot of time and capital has been invested in people being told that Pilots are required - which to some degree they are as link hacking is the weak point and always will be. So one has to balance the prospects of losing capability at a critical time against the cost benefits....tricky....I'm on the side of the pilot who although limits the capability of the aircraft can still undertake a mission despite attempts against the aircraft.
