The 'idiocy' here is you taking a reasonable premise - that an increase in spending & economic activity will lead to inflation rising - and driving it off the bat***t crazy cliff by claiming that bread is going to hit $100 a loaf. That isn't an argument, it is a bad comedy sketch. There is no 'logic' to refute, only a person making up utter tripe and refusing to own it.

You claim something will happen, but you make sure no one gets to call you out for being wrong - you can always claim it is still going to happen....one day. Worse, you don't even have the courage to admit you were exaggerating to make a silly point on the internet. To call that intellectually shallow would be an insult to intellectual shallowness.

Get back to us when you find the courage to stand by your own claims. Until then you are just one more right wing propagandist drinkig a bit too much of the kool aid.

Uhhh I did I expressed multiple times the spending is out of control.

    But as I said before:

We did [tell the republicans to stop spending] but every time a Republican even INSINUATES that he wants to not spend as much or cut spending in ANY proposal whatsoever... the ****ing democrats start saying “ohh the Republican doesn’t care about the people. He just cares about rich people” in order to influence the vote from low information voters. And then the Republican folds.

You can’t browbeat someone into submission to agree with you and then point back and say, “hey look he did it too!!” Of course he did it because if he didn’t you were going to trash him for it.

So I just wanna be clear. If you can’t predict when something will happen, your argument is you can’t assert that thing will happen as a justification for why we should or shouldn’t engage in that behavior?

    Be careful with your answer

And the guy predicting snow while standing outside on the 4th of July is basing his upon climate history and his knowledge of weather. And this guy is right, it will snow eventually where he is.

If the inflation rate continues at this rate of around 15% a year, the cost of a loaf of bread which costs $2 a loaf today, will be about $100 in the year 2049.

Well, you have been on this forum since 2014. Lets see some of those post from you talking about out of control spending by Trump.

And yet you keep voting for those same Republicans....weird.

Because the republicans want to slow down the spending. Let’s see how honest you are. Without the democrats pushing them to spend more, would the republicans have agreed to as much spending as they did during the previous four years?

I am not the bigfella, but I would say that if you wish to get people to not engage in a certain behavior that over-the-top, crazy "predictions" is not the way to go, as you are too easily dismissed. You suffer from the same problem that the climate change alarmist suffer from, you make stupid predictions and then are written off as an alarmist.

Are you and him under the impression that hyper inflation can’t happen here? If so, on what ****ing grounds do you make that assertion?

If you assert it CAN happen here then under what circumstances would it happen? Would those circumstances be massive spending packages matched with no increase in productivity, printing of cash and low employment?

That is what their words say, but their actions do not match the words. Eventually you need to go with actions over words

Of course they would have. Trump asked for more and more spending each budget and the Repubs would never say no to Trump. Trump took the budget and added more than a trillion dollars to it in 4 years. Why did you have no predictions of 100 dollar bread during those years?

And yes, Biden is trying to do even worse, though it is doubtful even the Dems will go along with the 6 trillion in a year.

Congratulations we have now had over 100 posts discussing a problem that does not exist. There is no proof of "massive inflation."

I have never supported any stimulus package in my lifetime. And I never will. And I don’t care who puts it forth. I said time and again that giving thousands of dollars to people just to spend is detrimental to the economy.

The reason I attack the democrats on this and not as hard on the republicans is because the democrats essentially forced the republicans to increase spending. EVERY SINGLE TIME, without exception, that the republicans mention cutting spending in ANY manner the democrats immediately attack him as not caring about people and only concerned with the rich. So much more so did it happen during covid where the democrats literally made the argument that republicans wanted people to die because they wouldn’t give them stimulus money.

Please don’t sit here and attempt to portray the Republican spending with democrat spending as being even remotely in the same league.

Let me ask you this, if the democrats came out and said we want to cut spending across the board in government. Do you think there would be a loud outcry of disapproval from the republicans?

Of course hyper inflation can happen here. Hell, it could snow here tomorrow, though it is doubtful.

Just a few headlines showing Trump wanted to curtail Congress' never ending drunken spending spree. He just wasn't successful in fighting the drunken sailors and their lawyers.

Unlike Biden, who has said, "Hold my Metamucil, let's spend $6 trillion!"
Fortunately, I don't think Congress will go along with all of Biden's proposals, either.

There isn’t proof of massive inflation yet. Let’s see what our CPI and PPI are at next month. If they increase by the same levels or more than they did the previous month, we are in trouble. The beginning of trouble, but major trouble.

Because that means the fed will be forced to raise interest rates. And if they continue to refuse to do so it’s only going to exacerbate the problem.

And how do we get hyperinflation? What does economics tell us is the driver of hyper inflation?

And the reason I attack the Repubs more than the Dems is at least the Dems are honest and say they want to spend more. The Repubs are dishonest and blame it on the Dems when they are not better. The only thing they ever disagree on is what to spend the money on.

As I said...The only thing they ever disagree on is what to spend the money on.

If they tried to cut the DOD budget or Homeland Security...hell yes there would be a massive outcry.

And this is why we are ****ed and hyper inflation is inevitable on the path that we are on. Because neither side will put their big boy underwear on and stop spending. They just want to say the other side did it the other side did it

I believe that it is OBJECTIVELY true that the republicans are far more amenable to slowing down spending than democrats. The democrats entire platform is predicated upon handing out freebies. They cannot do so without continued and increased spending.

How many times are you going to post this same stupid bullshit.

Yes, Trump wanted to cut spending in some areas and spend more in other areas...but he always wanted to spend more than he cut. Never once did he submit a budget smaller than the last...NOT ONCE.

If I said "I cut my eating out spending by $100 but now spent $200 more on golf" would you think I had cut how much I was spending?

    Good Morning,

Changing the topic and redirecting a question back at me is a week argument. In fact, it's no argument at all. It's like a tu quoque defense that is not recognized in a court of law. Even kids know that two wrongs don't make a right.

But I will indulge you: I did not approve of some of Trump's spending, and I did not agree with the amount of some of Trump's other spending.

(Now that was a mistake by me. I often give an inch or more -- being honest with leftists. It has never been fruitful, just as this discussion won't.)

The topic is Biden's record-breaking spending that will likely harm the country and future generations.

So, is President Biden spending too much or way, way too much?

Would you describe it as gargantuan or profligate?

Relative to what Congress wanted to spend, yes, he wanted to spend less. Duh.
