He organized the land into collective farms and presided over a famine that took 10's of millions of lives.

I recently read the following and if you care to learn anything about Mao and the similarities to Bernie you may want to read it and then get back to me.

I think that's Stalin, especially when you talk about a managed famine

    I know.

I don't see anything about Bernie Sanders that suggests that will happen. Its totally absurd.

The whole argument that Sanders is the next Mao seems to be based on the idea that people who hate Sanders secretly know what he really wants to do (as if he would have the power to do it in our system anyway) which is different than everything he's said and done in the last 40 years. The idea that Mao used similar rhetoric to Sanders is just not true. The beat anyone can do is grasp on to the word socialist. But that word has been used to describe hundreds of different ideas over the years. Its not as though Bernie Sanders doesn't have a clear record. Has he ever proposed a bill for land confiscation? For collective farming? Anything similar to anything Mao has done?

    No.

You can't just explain it? Obviously not. Because there isn't a similarity. This conversation is way too silly for me. You think you have some sort of mind reading powers and know the secret desires of Sanders that he's kept so we'll hidden for 40 years.

And folks give the greatest examples straight from their own words and completely fail to realize their saying it.. Scary!

You said I should read a book on the subject and I gave you the link to a book that I have recently read. It's you that needs to read a book on the subject and the one I suggested is excellent.

I think she would do better in the Bureau of Indian Affairs. As a genuine native American, who could do a better job than her?

Her most endearing quote and the only one I will ever remember from her is:

Both Stalin and Mao (and Pol Pot) presided over famines.

"The Great Chinese Famine (Chinese: 三年大饥荒, "three years of famine") was a period in the People's Republic of China between the years 1959 and 1961 characterized by widespread famine. The policies of ruler Mao Zedong contributed the most to the famine. Estimates of deaths due to starvation range in the tens of millions."

As Lenin said, "The goal of Socialism is Communism." Democratic Socialist is just another name for Communist. Just a coincidence that Bernie's initials are BS???
Communism has always been sold as Socialism but now only idiots are buying it. There was once a crazy little man in Germany that was able to convince the right amount of idiots that Germany's destiny was world dominance, that cost 75 million lives, that's 24% of the US's current population. Bernie doesn't want to control the world but is backed by those who do.

A collective farm in China belongs to the state who takes the crops and leaves barely enough for the growers to live on. Collectivism is slavery, 45 million Chinese citizens died under Mao's Great Leap Forward. Communism has nothing to do with sharing it's about power and control over a populace and enslavement in the name of the state. Cap'n I think you must have read some fanciful tales about Maoist China, history speaks for itself. Modern day China is a nightmarish dystopia that arose from Maoist communism. Please visit your fairytale kingdom where people can be arrested for talking to foreigners. There are police everywhere and they are not there to protect the people they protect the state. As a tourist you may be surprised how often you are approached by these police folks and questioned. What you may do while there is severely limited, even the hotels have no windows above the buildings around them so your view is limited to across the street. Most large modern urban areas are surrounded by impoverished rural areas or ugly industrial complexes. There's a great deal of restrictions on travel within China and on some trains you may be required to lower window shades while traveling through some areas and no explanation is offered. These trains are patrolled by the ever present police. China is perhaps the most filthy place you'll ever visit so be sure to ask your MD for appropriate shots before traveling. Limit water and food to your hotel and even that is no guarantee. Last of all do not engage in anything that might appear suspicious to watchful eyes it could cause your vacation to be extended involuntarily.

Trump manage to keep the unemployment rate low, but the minimum wage is still the same, and what about the obamacare replacement?

If you work for minimum wage and have no marketable skills that is all you are worth. That is regrettable but that is the reality of it. If you have marketable skills you shouldn't be working for minimum wage and the job market right now is good. Obamacare should have never happened, the government has no business trying to run something they no nothing about as evidenced by Obamacare's epic failure. Unfortunately the insurance companies grew fat under Obamacare and are no longer interested in delivering a quality product at a reasonable price. The morons that just gushed over Obama and everything he did are now stuck with the **** that he created, unfortunately so is the rest of America. Healthcare is now officially a catch 22. Thanks Obama. It's never gonna be fixed. I sincerely hope that Trump stays out of the healthcare thing and tosses it back to the Democrats, let them figure it out and single payer is not an option. It's not all bad, at least we'll have Trump another four years and maybe the Republicans will figure a way to keep the White House, the House and Senate thereafter.

I agree with the professional level but not so with the most basic pay, why other states can give above minimum wages and why is it not implemented across the board. South Korea have better health care compared that with us, so sad.

Its a mistake to think that the next form of totalitarianism is going to look like "Stalinism - Nazi's - Mao" Yes there will be similarities - as there are in all totalitarian forms of Gov't - but it is not going to be immediately recognizable - what is happening is much more insidious - and this slide into a quazi totalitarian police state is being facilitated by both sides of the Establishment.

Which is why the anti establishment Trump was elected and why the establishment has tried so hard to destroy him.

Not the whole establishment - if that were the case Trump would be gone. What is your definition of Establishment ?

I bet there’s a huge silent majority of Americans looking forward to a “green” future with no planes or cows.

Running on that platform, Bernie could get 80% or 90% of the vote.

Yes the whole establishment as defined by those who put government and self interest ahead of the citizens interest and the only reason Trump isn't gone is a strong unflinching support base that would have the heads of Republicans that openly supported his removal.

Certainly that is a part of the Establishment - but just a small part. You forgot the Red side - and the international financiers at the top of the food chain.
