It gets colder at night (no solar radiation), and warmer during the day(lotsa solar radiation). Theres your variance.

As for the variance in the suns output....

Sun's 2013 Solar Activity Peak Is Weakest in 100 Years

but alas, since I know you wont believe the obvious......

Solar Variance Has Significant Impact on Climate, National Research Council Reports

Small changes in solar output have a significant effect on the earth’s climate, National Research Council scientists report in a new study published by the National Academies Press. The new study indicates an increase in solar output during the past century has played a greater role in recent global warming than claimed by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

    Dozens of Scientists Participated

The National Research Council assembled a team of scientific experts encompassing many fields of solar and earth sciences.

As explained in a NASA press statement announcing the report, “Understanding the sun-climate connection requires a breadth of expertise in fields such as plasma physics, solar activity, atmospheric chemistry and fluid dynamics, energetic particle physics, and even terrestrial history. No single researcher has the full range of knowledge required to solve the problem. To make progress, the NRC had to assemble dozens of experts from many fields at a single workshop. The report summarizes their combined efforts to frame the problem in a truly multi-disciplinary context.”

    Small Changes, Large Impacts

The scientists discovered even small variations in the sun’s radiance can have substantial impact on terrestrial climate and temperatures.

“Of particular importance is the sun's extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation, which peaks during the years around solar maximum,” the NASA press statement explained. “Within the relatively narrow band of EUV wavelengths, the sun’s output varies not by a minuscule 0.1%, but by whopping factors of 10 or more. This can strongly affect the chemistry and thermal structure of the upper atmosphere.”

Changes in solar output impact regional climate regimes as well as global temperatures, the scientists report.

“The solar cycle signals are so strong in the Pacific,” the NASA press statement reports, “that [National Center for Atmospheric Research scientist Gerald] Meehl and colleagues have begun to wonder if something in the Pacific climate system is acting to amplify them. ‘One of the mysteries regarding Earth's climate system ... is how the relatively small fluctuations of the 11-year solar cycle can produce the magnitude of the observed climate signals in the tropical Pacific.’”

Without a mechanism it means nothing - face it blame everything and anything you want - but the sun is not the smoking gun

I will take that as your usual back down when you discover you are wrong

Excellent - thanks for proving you dont know what you are talking about. Solar activity and Solar output are two different things.

Why??? Should they jump to a wrong conclusion as they did with CO2.

You dont have to have a known mechanism.

Obama and pals have been lying to you, so they can raise taxes.

This proves the UN is a fat sack of liars. Such a thing would be impossible with our CO2 levels.....

    The UN is telling lies.

    - - - Updated - - -

sure, it would be impossible to get that much ice back with our high co2 levels if the UN's global warming experts are to be believed.

So you are unable to refute any of the facts in thy article that are backed up with actual scientific papers?

nope thats the exact same level a proof offered by thieves at the UN and in washington.

It would be impossible for all the co2 from hundreds of years of industrialization to vanish in a single year.....

I have no idea, and nor do I have any dog in that fight

Like hell - find the mechanism and you just discovered an unlimited new power source to exploit

Australia has already decided to dump the thieving..... This should be a warning to obama and pals, lies do not pay.

Abbott’s first order of business? Repeal taxes on both the mining industry and carbon emissions. The Labor government instituted a 30 percent “super tax” on companies that mine non-renewable resources and make a profit exceeding $75 million annually. The country has also installed one of the most comprehensive carbon emissions programs in the world by taxing the biggest polluters. Although the government planned to transition from the tax to a cap-and-trade system (linked with Europe’s) by 2015, Abbott has vowed to repeal the tax altogether and start from scratch. Australia is the largest per capita emitter of carbon dioxide on the planet, and an outright repeal would be a major step back for those fighting climate change. However, the carbon emissions tax was widely unpopular, and many voters blamed it for rising electricity and gas prices,

Abbott will need support from members of the Senate to repeal either tax. Final results on Senate seats will not be available for a month, but it appears as though he will have to rely on the support of several Independent and small party candidates – once the Senate is sworn in during July of next year. Until then, Labor and Green party members have vowed to vote against the Coalition’s plan to scrap the carbon pricing scheme. Abbott is already putting pressure on members from both parties to “respect” the people’s “mandate” and abolish both taxes.

    HAHAAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA omfg HAHAHAHAHAH

Psst... I know what it is.... can you guess?

Ill give ya some hints, Its a million times the size of our planet, Its 4.5 billion years old, Its a giant fusion reactor, and its 27 million degrees at its core.

What is it? not enough hints? ok....

Its responsible for all life on earth, and if it mysteriously vanished, our entire planet would freeze over in less than 3 days, killing every living thing.

It has to do that I don't give a damn what your source wrote. I'm not going to read it. The man is a fruit cake. He has no credibility.

911 truthers can make some pretty good arguments on their blogs too so long as they keep it an echo-chamber. I don't entertain nutjobs and cook is a nutjob.

I have been all over the Arctic with my job. I have been to a number of villages/settlements/military bases and just about everyone talks about pack ice depletion. Huge areas that once were covered with snow year-round are now completely bare in the summer. EVERYONE I talked to in the Arctic believes in global warming. I've heard arguments from scientists who say that the warming is natural and nothing to do with man, but this is the first time I have heard people believe that warming is not happening. That's simply not the case and no manner of sticking your heads in the sand can change that.
