It will remind them that 'identity' is a social negotiation, not an edict.

And when they change their mind tomorrow, and declare a new gender? What about when they claim they're the King Of Portugal?

Speaking for myself...I refuse to call Jenner a "she". He is a he. Male. Born that way. He can wear dresses all he wants but he is and will always be a HE. Period. That goes for she that decides to be a he. What you are born as, you are. Deny it. Change the title. Pretend. Play dress up or dress down. Doesn't matter to me. What I see is what I call you.
"Excuse me miss, may I have a refill of coffee?" if it is a waitress that is obviously female. If it is a guy in an apron, "Excuse me sir, may I have a refill of coffee?".
That's just the way it is for me. Your own mileage may vary on how you handle it.

First off the language is evolving, even among the professionals. Sex is the physical body, gender is the self identity. 95% they will match.

That aside, are you claiming that the chromosomes are the deciding factor only, and not even how they come out of the womb matters?

How exactly are you going to know for sure that the individual is what you think they are? There are Sikh females with a genetic condition that causes facial hair growth. Since they are not allowed by their religion to shave, how are you sure whether or not they are male or female? There was one story of a female, who identified as such, and later confirmed to be, who was being told she could not use the women's restroom because she looked too male. There are plenty of androgynous looking people out there, as well as people, not identifying as other than their birth sex, who look the opposite of their birth sex. You are just going to call them all liars?

Yup. If, to MY eyes, they look male or female, that is what I will address them as. If its a pretty transgender that really looks female..I will call that person a she. If its an obvious man pretending to be a woman...then I will call him a he. Simple as that. Anyone that doesn't like it, well that's too bad.
Or do you prefer I call all humans "it" from how on?

"Excuse me, it, can you refill my water glass?"

"Hey, WHATEVER YOU ARE....fill the glass!"

I am too old to change MY ways to make sure I don't offend someone that can't accept the sex they were born as.

I've never claimed to be an expert. My role here is to discuss alternative ideas and theories (alternative to Progressive ideology).

Meantime, how are you going to legislate for ever-changing and self-determined identity? Please, let us know.

It can 'evolve' all it wants, but nature decided the matter long ago - and will remain clear on it long after we're all gone.

The only social construct, is this 'evolving language'.

So a person who has the XY combo, but comes out of the womb with a vagina is a male in your book, even though they will grow up never having a penis?

From the world health organization: “Humans are born with 46 chromosomes in 23 pairs. The X and Y chromosomes determine a person’s sex.“

That did not answer the question. Are you going to check the DNA of a person to determine what they are? Or for that matter are you going to check between the legs to see what's there?

If you're talking about 'intersex' as a birth defect, it's quite rare, and isn't the subject of this discussion. We're talking about these 'social construct' gender dysphorics.

How is it different and how would you know whether or not they are intersexed? Additionally, how do you know that transgenderism is not biologically driven in some manner? We know that chimerism humans exist, and are most likely due to fraternal twins merging as zygotes. So why wouldn't a male/female fraternal twin pair, merging as zygotes, result in a transgender state? And my final question: you would seriously call, to her face, a person with a natural vagina between her legs, and an XX pairing, a male, simply because she looks male to you?

Dysphorias are a mental illness. Just like schizophrenia is a mental illness.

It's different because hemaphroditism is a birth defect, with physical anomalies.

I don't need to 'know', because it's super uncommon, and of no more import to the average person than are people born with two fused toes, or a cleft palate. They don't demand special attention or 'pronouns' based on their birth defect.

If they accept the reality of identity as a social negotiation, they will waste far less time and less angst on demanding special exemption from this negotiation. They will, in effect, lose the sociopathy implicit in such demands.

There has to be some way of defining if genetics isn't good enough for you and Anatomy isn't good enough for you then you need to pick something.

When a baby is born we look at their Anatomy that is what we base it on that's how we decide if dogs are male or female it's worked for thousands and thousands and thousands of years it will work for thousands more.

    The Oddity is an oddity.

When it is considered a birth defect such as a missing arm a missing eye a third eye we don't then rearranged everything we know about what constitutes a human and we shouldn't do it for sex.

If there is a vagina it is a girl it's not assigned female gender it is observed. If 1 out of every 500 million Sprouts a penis in their adolescence well what do you know it's a fluke.

There is no consider this as part of normal gender.

When does an oddity become no longer an oddity, or a deviancy, as typically used colloquially, no longer a deviancy? Left handedness was like that at one point till we wised up and realized that it just happens and is normal. We are learning that genetics and the body do not always match up, and we are getting to the point where we are letting it be known instead of hiding it. Additionally we are learning more about genetics all the time, including that people can possess multiple sets right from the womb (IOW not counting organ transplants).

When it comes to animals, we have no way of communicating with them about the abstracts of gender and sexuality. When we see homosexual behavior, which is well documented, are those animals, homosexual or instead thinking they are the opposite gender? Since they can't convey, and probably not even comprehend, such abstracts, we'll never really know. But humans can. Yes when a human is born, we have to go by what we see. We don't take a DNA sample when born to see what their XY/YY combo is. Which is why a XY person born without a penis will be considered a girl. It what if their XY starts asserting the "male" aspects? Most people will think they are transgendered, but are they really?

These kind of things are why the language is evolving to hold sex and gender as meaning two separate things, sex being the physical attributes, and gender being the mental/emotional attributes. It is also why we should take people at their word for their gender. There are people born physically female and identify as female, but between their looks and dress, some see them as male. So what wins?

Edit: Additionally, I don't think it helps that we are dealing with something that is not readily physically visible, when it comes to gender identity. We have lots of other disorders, and variations within humans, that we did not find physical/genetic/biological causes for before, but later did. Why should we assume that we won't find such in the future for transgenderism and variant sexualities, and such?

we can't look at a human on the day they are born and tell if they're left handed. Not the same thing. 10% of people are left-handed. 10% of people were born with intersexed chromosomes than Maybe.

so what show a it to be a common occurrence or it doesn't matter.

Every time I talk to you about this you focus on the extremely rare case and think that should define terms. That is not how it works.

we were talking about genetics not b******* Concepts. Gender is not abstract gender is sex and there are two Sexes nothing else you don't need a third sex to create offspring. All sex is for is reproduction.

once again there are people born with birth defects. That is not the rule that is the exception.

incorrect you talking about gender identity. Gender is biological and it is tied to sex.

I disagree. If you see your gender is masculine or feminine I will take you at your word if you appear to be. If you say you're a third gender or non gender or gender fluid those aren't real. I won't take you at your word

who cares you're talking about an obscure thing. That is the exception not the rule. If someone is born missing an arm we don't then think that it's normal to be born without a damn arm.

will the more insanity we seem to adopt regarding the term gender the more unquantifiable it is. So what's the meaning of the word is changing it's changing from meaning something to meaning nothing.

perhaps we will but until we find it we can't pretend it exists.

So your substitute is to pretend it does not exist ?
The same attitude existed to dictate that LGBT People should pretend to be heterosexuals and live a so called "normal life" and stop being deviants.

    1) When it stops being an 'oddity' (rare), and becomes the norm. Since 'intersex' remains rare, it's still an oddity. Just like webbed toes. We don't need to make it a thing in our daily interactions - just as we don't address someone's webbed toes whenever we speak to them. And left handedness is not discussed, it just is. No one cares, and lefties don't get special attention just because it's regarded as 'normal'.

    2) No, we are not learning that at all. We already know that there are rare cases of dual-gender. There is nothing further to say or do about it.

PS: you people are very obsessed with sex and sexuality. It's a birth defect .. trust Progs to fetishise it.
