Hahaha .. wow, okay. I'll find a trophy for you, since you're so fond of the 'win'.

Meantime, what is an 'all expenses paid, govt sanctioned, pre-planned holiday'? Sounds awesome .. are they still available? I had to make do with travel on my own dime, and living in grass huts in remote villages etc. Does that fancy 'holiday' you mention involve anything fancy like a private bathroom?

Yes, that was hilarious eh. A person can travel the world repeatedly and yet still learn nothing. Even the most ardent 'immersive travel' backpacker type can still return home with not a single lifeskill or different perspective learned from the brown peasants. It's all infantile stuff like "they're poor, but they're happy!" and other Ivory Towerisms.

And in the First World, everyone has the right to pursue a roof, and we all have access to the bare minimum for actual survival. It's on us to make those things work. If we don't receive enough in welfare to live independently, then we don't live independently. Or are you suggesting that people have a right to the LUXURY of choice? But only SOME people (because god knows, most of us don't)?

I've been to the Vasa Museum.

Your country spent 5% of its GDP building a ship that sailed a few thousand meters, keeled over, and then sank to the bottom.

America put men on the Moon.

Except that one. It's really very simple - you assumed that I was American and you were wrong. :roflol:

Whoopty doo. Put men on the moon but can't seem to deal with the homeless issue? What a waste of $$$$.

"Winning" what? Is there something to be "won"?

My experience was on my own dime, on my own steam (overland always and hitch-hiking whenever possible), and on my own time. And I have been to more remote villages (by donkey-cart when necessary) than you think. I found work whenever and wherever I ran out of money and then carried on.

Save your trophy and photographs. You need them.

That desperate "Every man for himself" attitude in the U.S. is why the country has never amounted to anything.
You have just disqualified the U.S. from being a part of "the First World".

    A beauty, ain't it!
Nothing wrong with that, but .....
.... ain't that a kick in the azz? Still, the Titanic didn't fare much better and yet how much has been spent on its' re-discovery and research? And still it can't hold a candle to the Wasa for sheer wonder!

And this would be the case regardless of what the laws say about camping in public, right?

I didn't say that you didn't. Like I said, you assumed that I was American and you were wrong! And you don't want to admit it! :roflol:

We generally start by not encouraging it by making it perfectly legal to camp in public.

Which has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the fact that you assumed that I was American and you were wrong! And you don't want to admit it!

Have you ever been attacked by mosquito's while sleeping outside at night? If you have, then you'll understand the rationale behind it.

That's a non answer. Again, what have Australia done to resolve its homeless issue? Have you arrested those that are camping out in public?

It would be difficult to touch that subject in Australia what with a percentage of the Aboriginal population being semi-nomadic ... and then there are the "traditional" swagmen neither of whom can rightfully be classified as "homeless" in the urban sense of the word so it would have to be tweaked in order to fit it around "living out/rough".

The same as in any democracy - nothing. They've made their choices, and in a democracy that's where the buck stops.
