We went to Gulfport, Ms Saturday...and on the way back I think everyone from Texas was headed to Destin or PC. We saw bunches and bunches of Texas tags. I told my husband we should be going to Texas everyone from Texas is headed east.

I have two porches here, so it will have to have two porches one for the morning and one for the afternoon. We can put a couple fans on it to cool off and a pitcher of tea. :clapping:

We finally got a good rain today. Most of it while I was driving to work.. but I'll take it.

Had an interesting lunch. Friend picked me up and drove us to a new toney restaurant district built in an area that was once the WORST of the worst neighborhoods in Dallas, just outside downtown. It's called Trinity Groves... check it out. We ate at the Amberjax Fishmarket Grille... I had blackened redfish with grilled veggies and jalapeno grits on the side. Yummy!

Very impressive. Drug houses run outta town by yuppies. :roflol:

American ingenuity at its finest. Souk sounds very yummy. Will you try it?
The KITCHEN LTO Permanent Pop-Up Restaurant sounds intriguing as well

I'll prob try a few, but since we don't have in&out parking, it has to be a special occasion for us to venture out for lunch. I was glad to see it was crowded... esp on a Monday. Seems the $19 price tag for the redfish wasn't enough to scare folks off. Heard Roger Staubach's Dev Co is building an apt complex across the street. I'm sure it'll soon be so ritzy, us po' folk will have to stand on the outside and look in. ;)

Yep. And just down the street from 'the projects' -- which no longer exist either. Just hope they're not pushing all those bad neighborhoods this way. Poor people still gotta have someplace to live. :(

Oh boy ... one of them.I had a sister-in-law who ordered stuff from the menu
because it sounded gourmet ... Like Blackened fish. Stop and think for a doggone
minute. What IS blackened Fish.A piece of fish that is overly coated with seasonings
' and burnt { char broiled } on some Pit.Fish is delicate enough to cook.
Just tossin around the words Blackened Fish is more a negative than anything
else. You don't ever hear of blackened Baloney do you.Or blackened Souse.
    Which wood be redundant.

I'm with Fooli on this one....altho his hypocrisy of being a wine connoisseur and paying big $$$ for wine that this wine cono-sewer can enjoy for less than $10,....is being over looked with his comments.

Btw, the $40 magnum of French champagne that I bought for the party (30 ppl total) after my daughter's graduation was dry and the novices there (i.e. women) preferred mixing in some Sparking Cider (bought for the kids) to sweeten it up!

    Speaking of flaming burnt meat:

Another Reason To Eat Less Meat: Charring Causes Cancer

    by Elizabeth Seward

    http://health.howstuffworks.com/food-nutrition/eat-meat-charring-cancer.htm

I used to be a rare inside and flamed outside steak guy, but have somewhat lost my taste for red beef over the years and prefer chicken & pork (esp ribs) these days.

But still will take flamed over raw (sushi) esp after watching the TV series "Monsters Inside Me,' where eating undercooked fish even from US mtn lakes can give one parasites that can kill!

Welcome back, OD. Been missing you. ;)

Blackened isnt charred. ... its just spices. The only fish I like cooked over charcoal is mahi mahi. We're all gonna die of something... I say eat what you like.

    Make my steak rare. Mmmmm.

Thx..been busy doing 'constructive' things since coming back from CO---bought a power washer and have power washed EVERYTHING---patio furniture, house siding, grill, A/C coils, spoked wheel covers, etc.....& using as a water pic---wait, that didnt work out so well!

Never had but have seen ppl eat 'flamed' fish in the past.

Still like my fish foil broiled or fried. Some fish is so mild tasting that w/o spices is fairly bland. Bass is over rated as is trout---will take fried cat fish, crappie (white perch) or flounder as my fav's.

LOL, gonna leave the power washer story alone. Glad you've been having good, clean fun. ;)

I don't like strong tasting fish... no catfish for me... not even fried. Flounder is good though.. the fish, not the Admin.

Ditto on fishy-tasting fish. But catfish is mild tasting! Channel cat or Gafftop/Gafftop Sail (salt water) catfish are great for filleting, and frying just about anything cuts the fishy taste & makes EVERYTHING taste good!

But agree, Flounder is kinda 'wild' & 'gamey' in flavor.... [IMG]

I got hold of mudcat one time. Ruined catfish for me forever. *yuck*

Flounder has become rare in these waters. Hope he doesnt become extinct altogether. ;)
