    Late summer is best.

Some kind of $50 dollar depth gauge makes freediving in turbid water feasible.

And you can always see at least a foot or two in front of you.

If you follow the anchor line down that makes a great reference too.

Seen it plenty of times and swam in it too. Nice lake. Relatively warm in the late summer -- July.

It is the Arizona/Utah equivalent of Lake Tahoe only warm not cold.

Why ? Wouldn't that make Past new Years Less.
    Not as memorable.
There is a catch phrase ... Be Careful what you wish for.
There was a Twilight Zone episode where an elderly Jewish
couple ran an Antique Store. And they were not making money
and about to close up.Then a Genie appeared like magic from an
old bottle in their shop.He understands they are facing hard times
and grants them 4 wishes. But he warns them to be careful what they
    wish for.
    The episode was titled - The Man in the Bottle - { 1960 }
with a nice performance by Luther Adler.

I doubled checked and am watching the episode now.
The Antique Store was also a Pawn shop.I thought so.
    I wasn't sure.As The shop owner { Luther Adler } is sitting
and going over his stack of bills { they are gathered on a device with
centered huge needle and plucked down }.He seems withdrawn and weary.
In walks an elderly Lady with an Irish brogue and terse greeting
and shows him a old wine bottle { like those Chianti } claiming it
a family heirloom { made from hand blown glass }.The shopkeeper
is demonstrating little patience as he explains it's worth.
    If she could go to the store that sold her the bottle { of wine }
that's what she would get.Nothing.So the Little old lady with
the sad forlorn eyes makes a quiet request.Could she at least get a
dollar for the bottle. The shopkeeper says if he had a dollar he
would just give it to her,he's so in debt. The little old lady with the
apparent Irish brogue, starts to weep. She turns her face away so as
    not to been seen crying.
The Shopkeeper feels a pang of guilt as he steps over to his large
and noisy { clangs when opened } cash register and picks out a bill.
A dollar bill.Handing her the bill, clasping tight in hers and admits
he wish he could make it more. The Little elderly lady with the Irish Brogue
thanks him tremendously and turns for the door but not before admitting
she lied. It's Not an heirloom, she found it in an alley in a trash can.
She kindly asks the shopkeerp to forgive her for lying.
As the shopkeeper says ... " Who knows maybe it will turn out to be an
    heirloom . "

Could be bread on the water. When a person has the heart to help someone who appears down and out the money is never wasted. If a person gets something by deceit then they will be the loser.

Well there was a 24 hour layover there so I went to Galveston Island and had fun eating gumbo at the beachside restaurants.

Tried Lone Star Beer too -- not too bad !!

Just survived a friend's family Christmas, belated. 31 people... 14 of em kids. OMG, makes me appreciate my little tribe.

Hostess is a retired Home Ec prof so everything was perfect. Tex-mex menu, plus a gorgeous honey-baked ham. All kinds of homemade candy, cakes and perfect chocolate meringue pies.

Worth the 180 miles to get here. (College Station... Aggieland).

Sounds nice. However did anyone manage to bring along a
DVD of something.Like the Joan London DVD on - Senior Care -.
From what I've gleamed ... Not a Comedy or a Horror.
    Just true-life drama.
However hearing from real people at a real get-together
is more than welcome info.I tink !

    How ... Why ... Gives us a hint.A Formula.
This cold snap has far more import than any dopey
New years Eve. It's too easy an excuse to make nice.
I seriously want to know what Mother Teresa thought about
and said regarding New Years eve..
Of course it's only natural to apply being nice whenever possible.
But it really doesn't address Mankind.Just a time of year.

While skimming the Internet for an SKS scope mount, I came across someone selling Trinitite. After a little research, I didn't buy from that person due to the chance it was fake, but did find this recommended source: http://unitednuclear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_11

I only purchased the small bottle of fragments to put in my "I love me" room alongside a piece of the Berlin Wall I bought at the GHW Bush museum in College Station, TX and a chunk of meteorite bought online.

Early in the morning on July 16th, 1945, the first Atomic Bomb was detonated at the Trinity test site in the New Mexico desert. The nuclear explosion produced a blast equivalent of 18,000 tons of TNT and a ½ mile diameter fireball - with a temperature over 10 million degrees Fahrenheit, far hotter than the surface of the Sun. The intense heat melted the New Mexico desert sand into a light green, glass-like substance which was later named "Trinitite". The resulting crater lined with Trinitite was buried for security reasons not long after the explosion. As a result, authentic samples of Trinitite are quite rare and very difficult to obtain.
A few drums of Trinitite was saved from the burial... and this is that material. Once it is gone, there will never be any more.
As supplies diminish, expect Trinitite prices to skyrocket. All our Trinitite samples are tested & certified to be genuine,
and a certificate of authenticity is included with any Trinitite purchase.
