200 days is great. That opens the door pretty wide.
It doesn't really heat up here until July and August and October we get a hard frost. I don't put anything in the ground before Mothers Day because its a waste. We wont get frost in May but they don't move. Its too cold.
I definitely can understand feeling a sense of pride growing watermelons. A few years back I grew some South American popping corn. I picked it and dried it like I was suppose to and shucked it and when I cooked it it was the best popcorn we ever had in our lives. Seriously. Like old fashion movie theater popcorn.

It's not so much the job itself, but a combination of the boss, and the satisfaction of seeing the company grow.

While I don't have a financial investment, my attitude is if the company succeeds, we succeed.

Funny, I've been here 18 years, and the one thing no one has ever asked me is if I was sane. ;)

There is a Problemo Mission Control. There Is a Problemo.
One cannot wear socks and also wear flip flops.Yes,one can
wear scandals as shown in the pic and black socks.Or sky blue pink
    socks,if'n one chooses.
But NOT Flip Flops.Because flip flops have that big toe divider.

Today is my Sunday. I got a lot of sleep yesterday on my Saturday, so today I woke early at 5 a.m. without the alarm.

I have been doing chores and errands all morning long.

I'm never hungry for breakfast when I wake, so only now at 9:15 a.m. did I make breakfast.

    For breakfast:

    - cinnamon raisin bread toast with butter and mango marmalade

    - grapefruit juice.

    Errands today:

    Finished errands:

    - laundry

    - wash dishes

    - cut hair

    - shave

    - hot bath

    - check oil, coolant, brake, and power steering fluid in jeep

    - pay bills

    Errands to do:

    - buy brake fluid and top up engine reservoir

    - get gasoline and check air pressure in tires

    - mail bills at p.o.

    That's it.

We have lots of dog walkers around here.

I am a cat walker -- I walk with my cat.

I don't think my medical insurance would cover the damage inflicted if I were to attempt putting this on one of my cats....

Oh about 15 years ago there was this strange couple who used to
take walks with their baby crib and dog and oddly enough their cat.
The Baby carriage and dog were close together as was the mom.
The Father usually was walking all over as if looking for something.
And their cat would trail behind about 10 yards. They lived a couple blocks
over and once this Father was in my Garage admiring my new Motorcycle.
I was fixing dinner and went out and asked " What's goin On " ?
The guy acted like he knew motorcycles but after a few basic questions
on motorcycles it was obvious he never had one, just liked them.
I told him I was in the middle of fixing dinner and he acted
like he just wanted to stay around a little longer and admire the bike.
I say OK but not too long.I kept a close eye on him.
I think he might have been slightly autistic.Yet,he had a wife and a
baby and a dog.And a Cat who walked behind them at 10 yards.
    I kid you not.

Does not work.It might appear as if it does. But I think even
Harry Houdini would have to chuck the idea'r.

My cat won't allow leashes either.

He walks with me, but ducks under cars or climbs trees when dogs approach.

My job is to fight off the dogs with my hiking stick (a converted closet pole) and pepper spray (for the really bad dogs not controllable by their owners).

When he sees another cat however he takes off after it like a rocket in his favorite game of "chase the kitty". In that case I have to go find him again sometimes a block away.

Have you ever tried to put a leash on a kitten? Do you know how sharp their claws are? It's like that old torture, a 1000 splinters....

I'm glad I live in the country, where not only are they not needed, someone would probably think it was a custom hunting vest.... :D

Yes, no problem. Yes, their claws are sharp. Although my cat has all of it's claws, and I don't normally clip them, in the situation you are describing, it might be a good idea to use a nail clipper to tip them. Be careful not to draw blood and have plenty of small tasty snacks to keep them content to be held against you as you "play" with their paws.
