It worked for me, when the occasion arose. It kept me in a tight circle as I made my way 540 degrees around on I-40, without hitting guardrails or other unnecessary obstructions one frozen fog morning. The grass shoulder was my landing zone, while watching semi's and other assorted vehicles perform the same dance. The surprise of it all, was no one hit anything, other than a guardrail skim by one. 10 minutes later, the salt truck came through.

 

No ice & snow in our forecast. 75 today. Break out the sunscreen!

 

I tend to like people who know their limitations.

Happy Thanksgiving week everyone.

It's beautiful day here in Ye Old Dominion. It's sunny, warm and not a cloud in the sky. I've been out in the woods a good part of the day felling dead trees and getting ahead of the firewood detail for the upcoming winter. There's still some color in the trees and the occasional breeze will bring a few floating down. Evidently, we've got robins migrating through here because we've got scores of them flying through the canopy overhead. You can't beat this time of year with a stick.

Well, beer break's over. Time to get back to work...

 

6 weeks of hammering out a living 900 miles away from my bride. I get to fly home tomorrow. Hell, I’m ready to slap my own ass.

For the most part, 25 years on and off of the spouse doing 'the tool bag drag' and being away for weeks at a time. When Puerto Rico was the job site, it was 3 months at a time.

Go home. Relax, enjoy your family. You are not allowed to post for the next 5 days.

 

Been there done that. The longest was when I deployed to Desert Storm. We were apart for one year, had some other 30-45 day field exercises during my enlistment. Did some work years ago on San Clemente island off the California coast. It’s where the navy seals train. It was a plane ride Monday morning and a return flight on Friday.
I like your idea of a self imposed 5 day ban.

 

Doing well, thanks. Planning my exodus this morning. I came to work just long enough to get my guys lined out in what I want accomplished then I’m going to skin out of here. Got to hit the barber shop for some grooming on my way out. Got to be GQ’d and looking sharp when I get off the plane.

 

I keep getting a visual from West Side Story... the part when they did the 'When you're a Jet you're a Jet...." snapping fingers and lookin' slick....

Hey Hey. Family is great. Aurora is in Kindergarten and Luna just started pre-school

And no. We bring them inside the igloo so they can enjoy the warmth as well. its way to cold to be outside

 

Too fast sometimes Facebook Memories of pictures of them when they were super teeny tiny keeps popping up on me. Hard enough to keep the wifes baby fever down lol
