    You mentioned rough sawn lumber. I have a lot of trees to take down. I need to make room for a house, metal building, power lines, septic tank and leach field, apple orchard, chicken area, and shooting range. Depending on the amount and size of trees I take down, I might get one of these.

    We have the cactus she help us save in the kitchen. Its probably about 2'+ right now. She said cut off a good part of the dying plant. Dust the cut end with cinnamon to stop any potential disease and leave it in the shed for 2 weeks not watered. The piece lived and its grew to about 2'+ since then.

    Also, she played this and I learned what the southern meaning of "rode hard and put up wet" was.

    I feel the same way about liquor in my food. Liquor goes in a glass. Not in my food.

    Italian Rum cake and Anisette cookies are ok with liquor in it.

    Lol right?
    I don't care to cut down trees but this lot is so heavily wooded, it isn’t usable like it is.

    If the lumber can be used it won't be wasted. Before I give up a tree I always think about how long it took for it to get that big and wimp out.

    Have you thought about having someone come in and seeing if any of the trees are of any value that they would be willing to pay you for?
    When we had a place in the woods cleared to build a house we found someone who cut the trees, hauled them away and cleared the brush and stumps. He paid us some money he got for reselling the trees he took.

    Looks like money to me. You know that stuff should dry before you use it. My stuff is from that old house I tore down. But we did cut down some poplar once. We had a guy saw it up for us. He built a barn with green stuff but we let ours dry for a year and used it inside for wainscot and beams and such. Love the green in Poplar.

    So then you run back to the house and grab a handy Tree
    tape to count the number of rings.Each ring makes for a year right.
    What if the Tree was kinda obstinate.A Lone Wolf Tree.
    Dint cotton the notion of having rings each year.
    Not to be confused or conflated with Paul Newman's First stab
    at Directing a movie :
    - Sometimes a Great Notion - { 1971 }
    A very interesting movie { beautifully shot and acted }.A very close-knit
    Family of Loggers in Oregon run by a very persnickety Patriarch { Henry Fonda }
    go about the business of Logging huge Trees.Geting up at 4:30 in the morning
    and having a Loggers breakfast { Pancakes,Eggs,sausages,Waffles everything
    but the kitchen sink } then off to work by Boat since a river is where the logs
    are grouped for their final destination.I just got the Movie on
    Tuesday from Barnes & Noble and have watched about a 1/3 of it.
    I've seen it a couple times and it's really good.Very seldom seen on
    TMC or AMC.Newman is in top form.

    When my Father was a young man he cruised timber for a living. He could look at a tree and tell you how many board feet was in the tree.
    In case you don't know what timber cruisers do...

    Bein a Logger { Lumberjack } is definitely not for city slickers.
    So it was odd that Paul Newman { who Directed } chose Michael Sarrazin
    in a lead role.Lanky and big blue eyes,he was always an interesting actor.
    But Not any kind of Lumberjack.He came on board in the script as a long
    lost son returning home after boredom as a drifter.
    Now,Richard Jaeckel was another story.Short yet stocky and brawny
    his character was perfect.Story goes as Paul Newman was scouting around
    for actors he noticed Richard Jaeckel at the beach with his Family,one day.
    His interaction with his family really impressed Newman.Newman also
    knew Jaeckel could use the work.The best scene in the movie involves
    just Jaeckel and Newman.Very,very powerful scene.It earned Jaeckel an
    Academy Award Nomination. Not about to give away that scene with a
    spoiler.I give away too much as is.

    Ordinary American processed cheese food product.

    Gee I dunno.Kinda begs the question.is that the same cheese
    Ol' Roy Boy uses for their Doggie treats.I bet it is.Only freeze dried.
    If you see the word product after processed you know it's fit for
    Sparky.
    Sparky the dog.Not some schlub awaiting the Electric chair { Sparky }
    after having a final meal of his own choosing.

    I once worked for a land company. In fact, that is where we got the poplar. We would poison a lot of old growth trees to make way for pines. I kept bitchen about wasting the trees so he finally tangled up a log truck and we harvested some large poplar trees. I mean really... poison a 200 year old oak?

    I'm a sharp cheddar girl. But American is OK too... melts better. Come to think of it, Swiss is nice too, so is Bleu. Guess I never met a cheese I didn't like. :)

    Didn't an Alabama fan poison a tree on the Auburn campus a few years back? I never understood why someone would do that even if they were the rivals.
