    Some places here have lifted the mandatory mask law or rule whatever it is or was. Do you get the feeling it was only for certain people and not for others? I hope that wasn't a political question.
    Remember when life was so uncomplicated and I could go to Texas?

    As I would. In general, I mentally block the emotional attachment part to animals raised as food, and admit it. But as some have posited through the years, could one eat their pet if they were starving.

    My answer is a resounding NO. I've come to terms with my own mortality, but the killing of an animal I have nurtured and that trusts me to do what is best for it, that would be the ultimate betrayal of that trust. Better that I become their meal, than the other way around.

    Sorry for the down turn, my mood is dicey at best. My oldest sibling has received news that he may have cancer, and will be going for a biopsy sometime next week if they can get it scheduled that fast. The positive is if it is C, then it's early enough they may be able to do something about it.

    My animals are part of the family. Under no circumstances would I ever consider eating one of my pets. I get upset about someone cutting down a tree it is a living growing thing. Getting a little bit of soapboxy. I love nature end of the story.

    I hope the results of your brothers tests bring the best news ever. We're here to listen and understand the scare you are dealing with. Those are not just words. Bar Buds are great listeners and we rally for each other.

    Funny thing here.. with all the fuss we made over Mexicans cooking dogs.. you should of heard the fuss the Mexicans made about an Oriental gentleman got caught at the border bringing in cat meat (he apparently tho't it was ok)
    I just laugh and say that it was very tasty.. dog.. or cat.. as it may be.

    I post this every year in this bar on September 11 and will as long as I am here.

    NEVER FORGET

    Nineteen Years Ago

    I was deep in the woods in New York State. No cell service. No electricity. No communication with the outside world. I packed up and started heading home. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I drove for some time and turned on the truck radio. I listened to what I thought was a War of the Worlds type show. I had no interest and changed channels. All the channels were the same. I remember initially being confused and then focused on what was being said. We were attacked. All bridges and tunnels are closed because of suspected bombs. Pause....remembering the feeling. Now I was thinking I have 2 options. Turn around and wait it out or drive over the closed bridge crossing the Hudson. Turning around was not happening. I was going home. My mind was set that no matter what, I was going home to my family. I kept driving. Not a car in sight. Not an airplane in the sky. Nothing for miles and miles. I was getting close to the bridge and thought if there is a bomb on this bridge and I land in the water and live, I am not drowning. So I unrolled the windows. When I got to the bridge I'll never ever forget what the flashing banner said. It said, "God Bless America".
    I finally made it home and then it became who was there that we knew and are they ok. Then it was what can we do to help.

    To all the people who were killed on that day and died since from complications, God rest your souls.
    To the families and friends of loved ones lost, again and forever you have my deepest sympathy.
