I got some rain too. Good thing.... I lost water on that fish tank I built. Tested it, took it inside, filled it again.... Pop! The bottom cracked. Water everywhere.

20200925_085244.jpg I don't know if you can see him, you may have to zoom. Mama has been dropping babies for 2 days. Got a bunch of them. These will be my experimental crawdads. Will separate for growth rate as soon as plausible. They are 1/4 inch max right now.

You are almost ready for some Cajun Etouffee.
This is similar to how the Cajun faction of my family started preparing it about a decade ago.
It is quick easy and at least as good as the traditional method.

"RECIPE COURTESY OF KURT GUIDRY AND KELLI GUIDRY JORDON
    Crawfish Etouffee
    Ingredients
    5 large onions, diced
    3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    1 pound margarine [butter]
1 can cream of celery soup
1 can cream of shrimp soup (to replace crawfish "fat" which is no longer sold)
5 pounds Louisiana crawfish tails, peeled
Creole seasoning (recommended: Tony Chachere Original Creole Seasoning)
    Cooked white rice

    Directions
In a magnalite pot or a pot with a thick bottom, saute onions and garlic in margarine over medium to medium low heat until onions are transparent. Add cream of celery and cream of shrimp soups and cook for 15 minutes over medium heat. Stir as needed to eliminate sticking.

Stir in crawfish tails and continue to cook over medium heat. Add Creole seasoning to taste. Stir often to mix ingredients and to keep from sticking to pan. Simmer for 20-30 minutes. Thin with a little water if etouffee is too thick."

Will "FLEX SEAL" work for you? I can't recommend it because I have never tried it. Oh, who knows it might or might not work.

Tony Chachere is good for a crawfish boil too. One cajun told us to boil the crawfish, when they are done put them in an insulated container and sprinkle liberally with Tony Chachere wait awhile and eat. They seem to have a richer cajun taste when done like that.

I went to Lowes today my first trip there in 9 months..I mean this at one time was a 2 or 3 times a month trip..They have changed the store around which was really a pain in the neck for lack of a different description. I spent my time looking for finding what I was looking for..

No, but thanks. I have been working on that pond for several years now. I should have put in a liner during construction. I redid the filter pond with a liner and it doesn't leak anymore. But this one has those fancy columns I just had to have. Can't cut a liner around my columns because it will leak. And I would have to drain the pond again and let it dry. Then what? Been there, done that. Everybody wants to use goo but it doesn't work. Paint breaks, fiberglass resin peals, and mud makes the water cloudy. So I am going to drop some corn meal in there. I have a level where it leaks very slowly and I have the level marked. Maybe the leaks will heal some over time like limestone does to pipes. I have a bunch of fish in there now and I don't want to drain the pond. The fish seem healthy and their appetites seem good. Any draining should be done in the summer when it is dry. I have a 500 gallon storage pond I can fill with rainwater and three more old swimming pools with fish and crayfish. And 210 gallons in the shed. So even at best evaporation will take a toll. Yep, gonna try cornmeal. As long as I don't foul the water it shouldn't do any harm. The fish in there look good, just rolled the shade cloth up.

Don't know about the cornmeal but it sounds better than chicken manure...

Would never use chicken manure. It would be a green water nightmare. The first year was fighting green water.

Oh. My condolences. This is sad to hear. I can never say the right words, because words mean nothing, sometimes.

I had to read Housman when I was 14. Forced us to think about death when it was the last thing on our mind. In times of loss Housman's thoughts resonate with me and provide some perspective and at least a bit of reassurance.

    A Shropshire Lad, XXXVI
    A. E. Housman

White in the moon the long road lies,
    The moon stands blank above;
White in the moon the long road lies
That leads me from my love.

Still hangs the hedge without a gust,
    Still, still the shadows stay:
My feet upon the moonlit dust
    Pursue the ceaseless way.

The world is round, so travellers tell,
And straight though reach the track,
Trudge on, trudge on, ’twill all be well,
The way will guide one back.

But ere the circle homeward hies
    Far, far must it remove:
White in the moon the long road lies
That leads me from my love.

An explanation might help one to understand the song.
    The performance needs no commentary.
    It stands on its own.

What do you all think about the time change? I am tired of the back and forth, put it one way, and leave it. I wakeup in the morning at a ridiculous time anyway. This has been a stressful year actually enough stress to last several years down the road. Not to mention the stress all the toilet paper hoarders caused. Can you believe we are still being restricted about somethings to buy? I had two items of the same thing in my cart and the cashier took one of them and told me I could only have one...really? Geez.
