Here's a new fact that you might not be aware of. Sex is not binary.

    http://www.nature.com/news/sex-redefined-1.16943

You're the one arguing that people must use a bathroom that will make themselves and others uncomfortable based on a part of their anatomy that you shouldn't be concerned with when you're in the bathroom. Shouldn't we be more concerned about the whole person and not just what they have between their legs?

Didn't read thread. I'm an atheist, and find the above sentiment to be one of the most disgusting things I've ever read on this forum in light of the topic of applying government force in direct contravention of the separation of church and state.

Who are arrogant, relativist statists to tell moral agents what and what not to believe in an uncertain world in an uncertain universe? Come in my state and neighborhood and try something like the abominable, unconstitutional abuse detailed in the OP, and see the irony of an atheist bearing arms on behalf of religion. I won't be the only one either.

Sorry, I dont see anything in that that tells me there is anything more than Male or Female. Binary it is.

We are concerned wiht the lerson. There are 2 sets of persons, Males and Females. We have segregated them based on whats between their legs. Thats how our society is. Why some get to play act around these societal boundaries is the question here.

You are making my point if you only have hypotheticals in the future. Not to mention the absurdity of characterizing segregated bathrooms as discrimination against the transgendered.

That's obvious from simply reading your response.

So I'll address any issues you may have after doing so because right now all you are doing is making yourself look a little silly!

And what gender is someone with XXY chromosomes? The real question though is what makes a person Male or Female? Is it simply biology, or does it have more to do with the way they dress or otherwise present themselves?

Societal boundaries are human constructs and as history has proven, subject to change. Would you prefer to have people like Michael Hughes or James Sheffield sharing the women's restroom with your daughters just because they don't have a penis?

It is not discrimination just to have segregated bathrooms, but it is discrimination to tell people which bathroom they can or cannot use. And as HB2 in North Carolina has demonstrated, this is not a hypothetical.

Well at least this reply makes more sense than the last one...

Thanks for at least elevating the discussion!

Who gives a (*)(*)(*)(*) if it is discriminatory. Discrimination is a good healthy thing that keeps insanity and idiocy to a minimum, and keeps our society functioning in a somewhat rational manner. More discrimination please. Completely throwing discrimination out the window is like walking off a cliff because you don't believe gravity should be allowed to splatter you all over the ground.

I'm fine with no racial discrimination. Anything beyond that is just absurd. I'm fine with cultural discrimination and keeping men and women in their appropriate bathrooms. The lunacy has gone too far.

How can the State dictate to a religion what to believe? Isn't that against the Separation clause. Hey libbies where are all of you?

It's hypocritical to deny, by government might, some discrimination to your pet groups while giving it the go-ahead to groups you don't agree with. Either allow all discrimination or none of it. If you don't have to serve me I should have the same freedom to you, groups should be treated equally - all or none.

    That's what segregated bathrooms is.

HB2 has nothing to do with churches. Still a hypothetical.

Thats a birth defect, and a syndrome..Kleinfelters. Not really the same thing. It's like bringing up Hermaphrodites as if this is a recognized, third gender...

Birth defects happen> if someone is born in some wierd midle ground or something...by all means choose something and have a normal life. Mental delusions however require different treatment.
We dont tell the guy who thinks he is Superman to put on a cape and have everyone else mandated to call him the Man of Steel.

Societal boundaries are usually erected with good reason. We dont put Males and females together in areas where they might be naked or vulnerable> We've made this choice as a society, and there really isnt any reason to make allowances for some to sneak past this barrier.

And if these people you mentipon are actually Women, then yes of course they have to use the room that other Women use.
